That's a purely partisn shlock quetion that has NOTHING to do with what's good for America.

The real question has to do with the FACT that we have a plan for opening the economy, created by Trump's politicians, the CDC, business executives and others. You can read it on WhiteHouse.gov!!

That question is, why is Trump threatening those states that are working to follow HIS plan?

One might also ask why Trump is subverting that plan by DECREASING support for what is required by that plan?

Shouldn't we demand the leadership that has come from EVERY president we have EVER had in the past when faced by threats of health, national disaster and/or foreign aggression?

How can it possibly be that we accept a US president who is turning the death and economic destruction of this disaster into a personal election campaign tour, complete with partisan threats against the more than half of America that he sees as the enemy??

By know virtually everyone has figured out that the Wuhan Virus and the lockdown are just CCP/DP tactics to bring down Trump. It is not subtle.

"In our current media climate it is not often mentioned that national and international lockdowns in response to a virus outbreak are completely unprecedented in world history, and that this is for good reason. Not even in war time did Western governments impose such severe restrictions on citizens’ personal liberties (churches and schools largely stayed open in the United Kingdom during World War II). And it is not just our liberty that we are losing, but our livelihoods and our young people’s futures. It will be young people and struggling working-class families who will bear the burden of the economic aftermath of this policy and who will have to pay back these forced Covid-19 subsidy loans that are being thrust upon us after being forced out of work by government fiat, through economic depression and inevitable austerity over many years. Multi-billion dollar socialism for mismanaged corporations and banks will certainly continue unabated, and ordinary people will be made to foot the bill once again, just as we did in 2008. If we continue with varying levels of lockdown until the end of the summer (and perhaps beyond), we are guaranteed to have destroyed generations of human potential. We on the left should have seen this coming months ago, and we should actively be resisting the lockdowns which caused it."

Now Americans are discovering that Trump's policies have enabled a quick recovery from the Deep State's collaboration with the CCP to crash the economy. The stock markets are leading indicators. The DP, progressive insiders, and the Fake News MSM have flushed all credibility, and

    Election Is Coming.

What problem in the UK in WWII would have been addressed by instituting "lockdowns"?

In the US, we DID institute lockdowns in WWII - we locked up Asian Americans all along the West Coast - moving them inland to encampments as we stole their property. Korimatsu.

The logic in that piece is totally muddled. The US House (the one body with a progressive majority) is where we see the issues of inability to pay rent, worker safety, healthcare for COVID, etc., being championed. One can easily argue that it has not been enough, but we would't have even that were progressives not there.

Also, that piece ignores medical science.

Why would you compare the transportation of Japanese Americans to concentration camps during WW II to this phony politically motivated lockdown? The concentration camps were real.
The lockdown was hoax designed to spread the Wuhan Virus and crash the US economy before an election.

I just responded to the claim that there had never been lockdowns in the past.

Also, the methods being designed and implemented by the USA to combat this virus can not be described as lockdowns.

There are venues that have been directed to be closed, but that is not a lockdwon. There are places where people have been required to wear facemasks. That is not a lockdwon.

There has never been a time in this year when people couldn't go wherever they wanted to go. It's been made slightly more difficult to travel here from China during that period - but tens of thousands have made the trip. The same goes for Europe. And, all the rest of the world is open to US travelers as far as the USA is concerned.

Look at the various sites that do cell phone traking. Suggesting that there is now or EVER has been a lockdown in the USA this year is absolute nonsense.

    You have it backwards.

Limiting contact is one of the VERY few ways we have for combatting the spread of a virus.

If some government wanted to SPREAD the virus, they would get people in greater contact with each other - ensure less social distancing, don't wear masks, pack into subways and airpplanes, take round trips to places where the virus is especially active, require peole to work in close proximity such as at meat packing plants, etc.

In fact, there have been no economic lockdowns in the past.
DP politicians did throw Japanese American citizens into concentration camps during WW II.
Probably a lesson there for real civil libertarians.

Ordinary Americans have been under house arrest imposed by many progressive governors during this pandemic. Big Businesses like Target, Amazon, Walmart, McDonalds, YUM etc. have been allowed to operate while their small business competition has been ordered shut down.

Big Bad Governments always incite the paranoiacs to push for fascist policies to enrich and empower a corrupt ruling political class and its thugs, secret police/spy agencies, and dependent crony capitalist pigs.

"Ideologies are harmless, uncritical, and arbitrary opinions only as long as they
are not believed in seriously. Once their claim to total validity is taken
literally they become the nuclei of logical systems in which, as in the systems of paranoiacs, everything follows comprehensibly and even compulsorily once the
first premise is accepted. The insanity of such systems lies not only in their
first premise but in the very logicality with which they are constructed. The curious logicality of all isms, their simple-minded trust in the salvation value of stub-
born devotion without regard for specific, varying factors, already harbors
the first germs of totalitarian contempt for reality and factuality."

Sweden got it right. The economic lockdowns were just another crude CCP/DP political dirty trick.
Even professor LockDown, like Cuomo, has finally admitted the truth.

"The epidemiologist - dubbed Professor Lockdown - has come under fire for his modelling which predicted half a million Britons could die from Covid-19 and heavily influenced the UK's decision to rush into a nationwide quarantine."

THE DAILY MAIL, Neil Ferguson whose grim warnings prompted Boris Johnson to order TOTAL LOCKDOWN admits Sweden may have suppressed Covid-19 to the same level but WITHOUT draconian measures,

Professor admitted there is lessons to be learned from Sweden moving forward

Sweden dodged major crisis without locking down and seeing economy implode,

Professor Ferguson's team predicted staggering amount of UK deaths in March

Modelling thought to have single-handedly shocked UK into imposing lockdown,

I agree that our actions vs. COVID have been highly uneven - grossly so.

But, that doesn't make it a lockdown. I agree there are plenty of mistakes - which should be expected since we had zero planning, very little coordination and thus our decision making has been ad hoc with conflicting direction at all levels.

But, you can't call it a "lockdown". China had a lockdown (which worked, by the way). We didn't. We closed certain businesses and other public venues, public transit, etc. on the grounds that contact spreads viruses, but we didn't restrict people to their homes, cities, states or even most countries. In fact, even countries "off limits" have been open to lage amounts of travel by individuals.

Plus, the "totalitarianism" claim can't be justified.

It was an economic lockdown designed to crash the economy. There was never any concern for limiting the spread of this pandemic or the deaths caused by it. Officials deliberately imposed polices designed to spread the pandemic to justify the economic lockdown that still continues in many Deep Blue states. Another desperate crazy attempt to somehow take down Trump. The public is onto the scam. Election Is Coming.

The case count in the USA is growing by 8% since June 1. Sweden's case count has grown by 19% in that same time period.

The idea that they "got it right" clearly doesn't have to do with how well they are fighting COVID19

You're missing some fundamentals concerning the case count projections you present.

Projections HAVE TO HAVE underlying assumptions. When projections were made at a time when people weren't doing what is necessar to fight COVID, the projections were pretty darn bad.

When we start using the ONLY tools we have for fighting COVID, the projections come down - along with the actuals coming down.

This is PRECISELY what oe would hope for!! If our only tools for fighting COVID made no difference in expected outcomes, it would prove our COVID tools are useless.

There is pretty darn clear evidence that our behavior, our willingness to use our tools in fighting COVID (social distancing, masks, reduced travel, workplace safety, etc.) IS effective.

    In fact, it changed projections!!

There were NO policies designed to spread the virus. That's just nutty.

You can't come up with even ONE such policy.

And that makes sense. The methods for fighting contagious disease are identified by the CDC. They aren't going to propose that we spread COVID.

And, there ARE people outside of the CDC that see objectives that have nothing to do with fighting COVID.

For example, Trump wants to open our economy for his election campaign that is pretty much entirely predicated on our economy.

So, he is not even willing to push for his OWN PLAN for fighting COVID - which is posted on WhiteHouse.gov. Fighting COVID just isn't even on his radar. He's even gone so far as stopping federal support for testing!!

In fact, he wants to dump masks and social distancing in favor of huge campaign rallies and a packed Republican convention.

In fact, DP politicians and bureaucrats, including the Health Commissioner of NYC, actively encouraged the spread of the Wuhan Virus.

"Critics of the mayor’s performance insist that a surplus of confidence and a deficit of focus — a combination eerily similar to the one that has plagued the White House — kept de Blasio from taking the steps necessary to protect his citizens. Wanting to show that they would not be cowed by the outbreak, his public health officials missed precious weeks in which preparations and precautions could have saved lives. On Feb. 9, for example, the city’s health commissioner, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, urged people to attend a Lunar New Year celebration in Chinatown, telling them not to “change any plans due to misinformation.”"

Even Cuomo and Ferguson have finally admitted that social distancing did not work.
Fauci admitted that masks would help spread the virus.

I have already proved it. Here is more proof:

"The threat of the coronavirus was looming over New York City, but Mayor Bill de Blasio was not especially worried. “I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus,” he tweeted on March 2. There was an Italian film playing at Lincoln Center. He urged people to see it."

"De Blasio’s less-than-coherent response has disappointed even his fellow progressives. “Out of the three of them, unfortunately, he has been the worst in taking decisive action,” New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams says of de Blasio."

That's not support for your contention that there has been a conspiracy theory from the left wing.

In fact, it points out that what deBlasio did was consistent with Republican national leadership.

The information pointing to COVID being a Democratic plot against the president (and the message that it should be ignored) was designed and promoted by Rushbo, Breightbart, Hannity, Carlson, whoever that was that had her economy show on Fox caneled over her promoting this issue (Trish someone?) and others absolutely and totally NOT related to Democrats or progressives.

In fact, TRUMP stated that it was no big deal and would evaporate on its own on many occassions - something that was obviously counter to all science on COVID and communicable disease in general.

Your idea came from the RIGHT WING. And, deBlasio bought it for a while.

That's a far superior accounting of deBlasio than could ever be used in defense of Trump's total lack of leadership and rejection of medical science and advice.

Even today, the plan created by several groups HE assembled is on WhiteHoue.gov.

Yet he has strongly lobbied against that plan for weeks, has stated that the federal government will no longer be interested in creating the materials (such as testing) required by that plan.

Your own cites indicate that your conclusion is false.

Apples and oranges. Where is Sweden on the curve? A year from now, the China Virus may be pretty much behind them, while other countries are still working toward herd immunity.

Where is the official government graph regarding the levels of herd immunity?

Oh yeah, there isn't such a graph. They have a vague idea of what the level is, but nothing accurate, and they want it to remain that way.

Pretend there is no such thing as herd immunity, is the official policy. Sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist. NEVER quantify it.

According to Dr. Fauci (remember him?)...herd immunity for corovid is about 70%.

Sweden is at less than 25%

There are no graphs about levels of herd immunity because the US has been woefully behind in testing. There is also almost no antibody testing in the US, so we don't know how many people had the virus but never knew. You can bet that Trump wants to keep it that way. It is much better for him to have the pretense of the US approaching herd immunity, to support his grand reopening, instead of having hard data that shows that we are around 5-10% immunity, max.
