"... Benjamin Banneker Elementary closed Wednesday as New Orleans’s Recovery School District permanently shuttered its last five traditional public schools this week.

With the start of the next school year, the Recovery School District will be the first in the country made up completely of public charter schools, a milestone for New Orleans and a grand experiment in urban education for the nation."

Glad to see someone is taking the necessary step to end the failed educational models delivered to us by the "professional educators" Best of luck to New Orleans. I am rooting for you.

as long as they get our tax dollars they should not be allowed to push religious dogma in the schools... other then that, no issue with them...

with no public schools, these schools also need to be open to all, rich and poor alike... if they can not handle this, then money needs to be redirected back to public schools

    Awesome

These schools should have enrollment based on performance. Don't perform, don't get students... close.

we really know they only care about backdooring religion into the schools under the tax payers dime, I could be wrong, but we will see

    http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/history_of_the_separation_of_chu.htm

"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.

    - Benjamin Franklin: in letter to Richard Price, October 9, 1780"

So you accept that Democrats are to blame for the hugely failed public schooling systems in: Los Angeles, Detroit, Baltimore, Washington D.C., NY City, etc... etc... etc....

    That's good to know.

Conversely, the Louisiana education system has improved dramatically since it began going charter after Hurricane Katrina.

Public education is a failure. It fails our children so significantly that it can screw them up for life.
