The Capitol Riot was no Aberration. It was the first battle of the Civil War

ROFL.. Reagan sold them obsolete F-14 tomcats and had fairly good control of replacement parts..... The Iranian fleet of F-14's are barely even operational and definitely not battle ready.

They breached the Capitol (violence) to try to overturn a democratic process (political intent). By definition, they were domestic terrorists. They broke windows, fought and beat up cops, attempted to sell intel to the Russians, chanted for the hanging of Mike Pence, propped up a functional noose outside, dressed in combat gear, and you're over here literally saying they should get a slap on the hand. If anything, the police should've been more prepared and a lot more heavy handed.

I don't support the riots of last summer either so you can stop with the whataboutism.

    A. The were there in the building because Nancy wanted them to be. A flipping podium is after all a small price to pay when you're after total power.

She has oversight of security they knew it was coming a week before it was going to happen. She and Schumer were offered NG support but declined supposedly over concern about appearances.

He who makes the claim provides the source. That's how a debate works.

They sold the parts and supplies through an Israeli arms dealer so as to create distance from the transaction. The profits were used to finance the purchase of arms that Reagan was giving to the Contras in Nicaragua. Giving military aid to the Contras was specifically forbidden under federal law so they used CIA “company” aircraft and contractors to secretly send the supplies down to Nicaragua. On the return trips, the planes loaded up with cocaine, knowing they would be allowed to slip through the American interdiction efforts. They used the profits, helping to fuel the Miami cocaine craze in the eighties in the process, to finance other operations, off the books.

They are 50 year old tech, that no one even makes replacement parts for these days. The last part of that is a conspiracy theory...

There's not going to be a civil war. Ordinary Americans on both sides aren't nearly stupid enough to do that. Mobs will be dealt with by the authorities.

The capitol riots were an extreme embarrassment to the GOP and they don't want it to happen again.

I remember the Summer of Love quite well. My aunt had come from Iowa to visit us in Ohio. I must have been eight at the time. She was all excited about this new thing and wanted to travel to Boulder Colorado to see it first hand. Because my aunt had made it sound so exciting, and because my mom had been born and raised in Boulder, I was quite excited when she asked if anyone wanted to join her. We traveled cross country, my aunt, my cousins, and I, in her land yacht, a Chevrolet station wagon with a pop up seat in the back which allowed us kids a fun time looking out the back window as the American landscape played out before us. Or I suppose, played out behind us.

The Boulder parks were packed full of people, dressed in all kinds of ways that my Northeastern rural Ohioan eyes had never seen. And, oh, oh my gosh, there were young women, everywhere, and they showed so much skin, as I had never seen before. Even the ones who danced around draped in scarves and veils looked quite enticing. Over the loudspeakers Jimi Hendrix’s album was playing, music like I had never heard before. There where weird vehicles, three wheeled motorcycles and wildly painted vans and busses. It was all so exciting, so new, so exotic to me, that I didn’t have to drop acid to have a fine psychedelic experience.

People were charged and some were going to prison. Then Bill Barr became the Attorney General and advised the elder Bush to just pardon everyone, and it would all go away.

Nope. There were several conspiracy theories including one that ran through Mena airport with Bill Clinton get to paid to look the other way. Oy 9ne person Wass convicted of anything in Iran contra, Ollie's north and he was convicted of having a porch built gratis. Another if those things that seems perfectly legal if you're a Democrat.
