to "Think" about Abortion. Thank you Church and mom who was devout.... I wasn't even mentally ready to have a baby when I was married with husband....
It sounds like it worked out for you - my sincere congratulations. However, the Republican courts are ruling against allowing abortion even when the woman is in an emergency, life threatening situation where abortion will save her life. This is happening in Idaho and Texas, with their actions to be reviewed by the SC soon. Other Republicans await the outcome. I hear and believe you weren't mentally ready. But, I don't hear that you were dying. And, I don't believe you have the right to demand that other women must be denied abortions, even when their lives are at serious risk.
What I mean here is the C hurch kept me "clean"....I was tempted but kept hearing DON'T do it. I've always been mostly Pro Choice...
Today's "pro choice" issue is whether women can choose abortion if otherwise they will die. Do you believe that women who choose abortion over serious health risk are "unclean"?
Nobody is, unless they;re like the oldest of 10 kids or something and have to help take care of babies while still very young.
Or unless you are confusing “baby” with “doll” and do not relise that the eel thing doesn’t have batteries you can remove
Good for you. Think that would work for the fourteen year old being raped by her mothers boyfriend or the sixteen year old living on the street or the woman with three kids under four whose husband has just walked out or…….. I HATE HATE HATE judgemental people who cannot see that the other shoes they should walk in are rotted and threadbare. I do hope that is not you.
The Catholic Church doesn't want you to think about anything, especially as a woman, you're just meant to blindly do what you're told and follow the doctrine. Even on issues they might be on the right track of (and I disagree that they are on abortion), that isn't a good thing.
By using the word "unclean" and I refer to me, it's about being a virgin until married....that's what I was pounded with since I can remember way back then...The catholics believed and taught about the Virgin Mary,..... True I have NO Way to know. None of us do. But on too many babies being born and abandoned by the donors, I hear it's awful out there.....Use the Right Heads.....If you are going to bring a LIFE into the world, be RESPONSIBLE and GOOD TEACHER... That Brief Amount of Pleasure can bring a lot of GOOD and a lot of DAMAGE... BE WISE.
I fully respect that. Good post. The part I don't respect from our elected officials is the callous assault on the lives of women who need abortions to save their lives or to save their procreative ability. And, beyond that the health and well being of a woman has to be at HER discretion, not at the discretion of the federal and states governments . Our courts are NOT medical experts. Even medical experts would refuse to second guess these decisions were they not fully informed at the bedside.
Be wise?? Where does rape fit into that? Are you suggesting that rape victims are at fault for not being "wise"? How does "wise" avoid cancer or other disease that requires treatment that is not compatible with pregnancy? How does "wise" avoid a pregnancy that is threatening the woman's life? >>What's the basis for Idaho and Texas denying treatment that can save a woman's life?
When I was young condoms were easy to get. IUD's were too, although a little more complicated to use. Diaphragms were cheap too. And we were all smart enough to use them. It was the era of "Peace! LOVE! Dope!" We screwed like rabbits. Abortion wasn't an issue for the most part. What's changed?
Well it is for Catholics, since they oppose any form of contraception (in theory at least). Maybe we would all be better of if we didn't have the cultural stigma and shame about sex and contraception.
I went to Catholic Immaculate Heart of Mary School and Archbishop Stepinac High School in the 50's and 60's. I don't think I ever met a male or female that didn't use a rubber to prevent pregnancy. The Church also says you should never lie. Do you think anyone lives a full and normal life and never.... ever tells a lie? Ever? That would take a very special type of "Mother Theresa" person.
Oh, I know, that's why I said "in theory". I'm totally on board with the concept of Catholics being no better than anyone else. That's part of the problem though. The public front and preaching is all about contraception (among many other things) being fundamentally wrong, sinful or evil but most Catholics quietly get on using it anyway. In a lot of places, that kind of theological double standards played a major role in creating the environment where something that should be perfectly normal and openly discussed is instead shameful, embarrassing and secret. That leads to a lack of education (formal or within families), limits public information and access to a full range of resources (note that condoms aren't necessarily the best or preferred method of birth control specifically, especially for people in long-term relationships). Things are slowly improving in many places, but the weight of history and the social impact of religious dominance are heavily and difficult to shift. This thread kind of proves that point.
((Sigh))) yet another person who does not seem to know about “typical use” failure rates And over time this adds up And the above were from a pro life site https://www.hli.org/resources/how-effective-are-condoms/
Even then people’s luck ran out and there were more abortions than you knew about or women went to “special places https://www.theguardian.com/society...he Catholic church, homes in the postwar years.
I'm not sure what monastery you grew up in. In my world, every high school boy carried a condom in his wallet just in case he "got lucky". I never heard anyone rale against the Pill. When I was in high school and college in the 70's... every chick was on the pill. It was the age of "PEACE! LOVE! DOPE!" We screewed like rabbits. This monastic, religious freak world you describe is a fantasy, not a reality.
Forget about other women. you need to consider the life of a child for once. It is nothing but a child who doesn't deserve death.
Forget about women??? This is a serious health care issue. The woman doesn't deserve death, either. And, not all fetuses are viable. Most importantly, women have bodily autonomy.
