Sen. Mark Rubio (R-FL) expanded on a detail revealed in the redacted Mueller report, telling the New York Times Friday that the Russians did successfully hack the elections system of a county in Florida.

“Everybody has been told what it is they need to do to protect themselves from the intrusion,” he said. “I don’t believe the specific victims of the intrusion have been notified. The concern was that in a number of counties across the country, there are a couple of people with the attitude of: ‘We’ve got this; we don’t need your help. We don’t think we need to do what you are telling us we need to do.’”

“My biggest concern is that on Election Day you go vote and have mass confusion because voter registration information has been deleted from the systems,” he added.

During the 2016 presidential campaign the candidate Putin was actively supporting complained the system was rigged against him. He went so far as to say he may not concede the election if he lost because the system can not be trusted.
After the election, when the extent of Putin's "sweeping and systematic" interference was revealed by the US intel agencies the candidate he actively supported refused to accept the findings implying the intel agencies can not be trusted.
While the investigation in to Putin's support for his chosen candidate was being conducted that person accused his hand picked AG, the Deputy AG, the Special Counsel, the Special Counsel's team, members of the DOJ, members of the FBI, and all manner of career government employees of surreptitiously working against him.........because they can not be trusted
Subsequent to the release of the Special Counsel's report on the investigation in to Putin's interference of the election, his chosen candidate's newly minted AG has mischaracterized the report to the public, lied to Congress about the report, and is now refusing to appear before congressional committees to answer for his lies......making people question whether the DOJ can be trusted.
All throughout the course of this time Putin's chosen candidate has sought to undermine media coverage of events claiming they can not be trusted, calling the news media the "enemy of the people"
Also during this period, spokespeople for Putin's chosen candidate have said the very nature of reality is subjective by boldly stating there can be facts and alternate facts........suggesting what one perceives to be observable reality can not be trusted.
Now, Putin's chosen candidate has declared his admin will not cooperate with any further investigations since his AG has determined the case is closed.

What do people do in times when uncertainty is fomented? When fear that our institutions are not reliable anymore is pushed in to the collective consciousness. When we are told hoards of invaders threaten our security. When we are told the actions of the members of the "people's house" have no legitimacy. Trust is fragile. What happens when it is gone?

It started with relatively innocent lies about the size of the inaugural crowd. Here we are, almost 2 1/2 years later, with nothing less than a full blown constitutional crisis being aided and abetted by congressional Repubs, conservative media, and the Attorney General. Just as he did in his business life, Capt. Chaos is using all means at his disposal to protect himself against justice being done.

We, the majority, are being tested. We need to be asking ourselves what we are willing to do to make sure the system holds against the tide of shyte Don is smearing on everything. Because he and his enablers won't stop unless they is forced to.

Have you EVER heard of turning a mole into a mountainhill? Because that's what this is, and always will be. They deleted voter information, which while will hinder our process, will not destroy it(I'm pretty sure there were backups.). Senator Rubio's actually been one of the more pragmatic on this issue. Wanna protect our election system? Get it all encrypted in the same format as Washington's. The Intelligence Community can do this, with or without Trump's implicit order.

I find it amazing how much universal despising there is for Donald Trump, yet seemingly the US Government cannot move without him. Not by the order of the system, but by the hypocrisy to make him front and center. No, if you can't do your job then maybe Coats shouldn't be head of intelligence.

I've absolutely HAD it with the excuse of these bastards, occupying our positions of government only to give not even 1/10th the effort of the administration. Here's a novel concept: No one gets to criticize President Trump until they bring the same legislative or effective effort in their respective branch that Trump brings as an executive.

When and at that point that you restore some decency to your positions in government, then you have the equal standing to complain.

 

The democrats keep claiming that there was no voter fraud. Except of course when it might involve Trump. Then when Trump tries to investigate whether election fraud might have taken place, the democrats resist it. Democrats should at least get their stories straight.

 

2016 was the final year of an admin that vowed to lead from behind. They bent over backwards to be more flexible to dictators and rogue regimes allowing putin to fill a vacuum of power and run wild across the globe. Thankfully, the American people rejected that during November of that year and trust is coming back

 

It's not about how effectively they compromised the system. It's about injecting doubt in to the integrity of it.

It's about making people who walk in to court houses all over the country question whether justice is being done. Whether the top law enforcement officer in the country works for us or his corrupt boss.

It's about eroding trust.

 

Just because something's not illegal, doesn't mean AG Barr is working for Trump. I admit however that the optics are terrible. Thing with Trump is that he doesn't care about optics. I believe that since Rosenstein/OLC agreed with Barr's conclusions, that even if Barr hadn't been appointed the same conclusion would've been reached.

It's more than optics. It's actions and words. Billy the Bagman's actions and words are those of the prez's defense attorney, not the people's attorney.

The people's attorney isn't going to pursue a case that he doesn't think is winnable. Prosecutors prosecute to get people in jail, not to merely say they prosecuted them. This is the same line of reasoning from Comey that exonerated Secretary Clinton.
