Before Reagan America was the worlds manufacturer of quality products and the industry that created good jobs with bennifits. Reagan paved the way for that industry and those jobs to be shipped over seas, where nothing is made with pride, which produces cheap crap for profit and profit only.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, it was leftist policies (such as strong unions, increased wages, and higher taxes) which forced companies to produce overseas, along with the fact that Americans wanted cheaper goods to buy so they buy products from China & others and don't buy American made products because they cost too much due to regulations, etc.

The unions priced themselves out of the market.

That is all nonsense. I remember growing up when cheap **** from overseas was looked at as a joke. When Main Street USA was filled with locally owned retailers that had a wonderous variety of products that is hard to explain to anyone that only knows what stores are like today. Where the owners of stores and plants sat in an office above the shop or store floor, that knew each employee and their families and valued them as part of their business.

It was only after the good jobs were shipped overseas that cheap crap from china became popular, because working a 7-11 didn't pay enough to by quality anymore ... if you could find it.

"Those who were elected" have to almost immediately begin the campaign to get reelected. So what they do will reflect the wishes of those who can get them on the ballot again and fund their next campaign. With 6 year terms, the Senate is a little more immune to this, but even senators must be responsive to their backers, while currying favor with their leadership in order to advance in the Senate and move legislation.

I agree with that. That is another weakness of the system we have which elects people instead of parties. The countries with pariiamentary systems have voters choose a party and the party does the HR work. Better system and cheaper. I have to admit that I hate the idea of political parties but I think having the public choose leaders individually is asking for trouble. That is why they choose fame, pretty faces and pretty words. None of that indicates competence or suitability for the office but is the only information voters have to make a decision. I think it's better to leave the HR work to those with more information.

I should also mention that the issue of re-election should be resolved with a single term limit for every elected office. Make the terms longer for purposes of practicality but get rid of the re-election. It is the source of much corruption in politics.

    Exactly...
    Honest? Respectable?
    Yes.

As opposed to the guy with 90+ felony charges who fleeced both a Children's and Veterans charity. Who owes $540M for fraud and another $90M for rape. Who buried the mother of 3 of his kids on a golf course to get a tax break.

Yeah, I'll take US over him or his worshippers.

Correct, to take a manufacturing WONDER like the USA was and destroy it so that the rich 1% could profit instead of many is the greatest nonsense the world has ever seen.

Do you understand what 'insidious' means?

For example, the venus fly trap is 'insidious' to a fly; it's alluring, inviting, sweet smelling, but it's an inextricable trap. Insidious means that, essentially, but it's more gradual. Most demagogues, the kind that create a cult following are of that type.

I'm using the term in a very broad sense, and any aspect of it that allures and traps people would fit within that definition. "Hypnotic" "mesmerizing', are synonyms.

    Shhh! ;-)

“Politics in modern America has become a lucrative business, an industry that has less to do with policy and a lot more to do with accessing money and favors. … bills and regulations are often introduced not to affect policy change, but as vehicles for shaking down people for … money and favors. Indeed, the motive on both sides often has nothing to do with creating a “correct” policy but instead is often about maximizing profits.”

It takes two to tango, so both are responsible, but since the person implementing the tango, is tangoing with some 65 million folks, he is committing the greater sin, by a factor of 65 million.

I suppose it is insidious, but it is good to note that the flies can at least keep buzzing while caught in the trap. ;-)

But Donald Trump is coming back—and when he does, he will give us something to be mad about every stupid day. And we won’t be able to turn it off, because once again, he’ll be the star of the show.”

I'll remember than the next time you guys on the right call democrats vermin or communists. And, using your extrapolation technique, calling me 'vermin' and 'communist'.

    I find that entertaining.

At least my conclusions are true.
