Nobody is talking about equality of outcome, we are talking about more equality of opportunity. at this point we have the most expensive college and training in the modern world by far, not to mention no living wage or healthcare system or daycare parental paid leave, great infrastructure and vacations ID cards to end illegal immigration that every other modern country has. And now the Democrats are forced to treat all that as though it is worthy of more than just dragging those Republican out and throwing them in jail for a few decades.

AND, what they're doing is all based on a false claim that Trump's claims of voter fraud and a fraudulent election had merit. IOW it's all based on very serious lies.

 

Well...I'd be relatively sure that if that's the case, the new Georgia laws will be challenged in the Courts. But, in our system, the States (and their respective legislatures) still hold a lot of power in regard to elections. I agree with you regarding the Donald's Lies, but if the new Georgia laws are Constitutional, it's up to the Georgia legislature and the people of Georgia who elected them as their representatives.

 

I completely reject the idea that undermining democracy, undermining the right to vote, and crushing a political party to guarantee your own party always wins is "Constitutional". The Constitution isn't about any of that. It is the exact opposite. It is about people choosing their politicians. It is not about one party scheming to pervert the vote by legislating a way for their politicians to choose their voters! So there is no Constitutional provision that allows this. Rather, it is entirely against everything the Constitution stands for.

 

Well, I might agree with you today. But, in fact, that wasn't the "original intent," which limited that "right to vote" to free white male adults, who owned a certain amount of property. The right to vote has been expanded over the years. While I favor that expansion, I also recognize it's still TBD regarding how it all works out best for everyone.

 

Maybe so but the Republicans are going against history with a vengeance, to the point of being the enemy of the people.

 

I would say they are going BACK into a more imperfect past. History, IMO, is certainly dominated more by authoritarianism than liberal democracy. And...it takes a lot of self-confidence to determine who exactly is the "enemy of the people."

 

That will be a surprise to the socialist parties in France Spain Italy Germany the Netherlands Belgium Scandinavia Russia etc etc. Only English speakers who are conservatives have a problem with it. If you count all taxes we have a flat tax system. Everyone in the country on average is paying about 27% of their income. Even the lowest quintile is paying 20%. So all your GOP garbage propaganda is baloney-Google the only tax graph you need to know...every country in the modern world except us has everything that AOC and Sanders and socialist s want. Canada is not that scary. The GOP propaganda machine has now produced a ridiculous parallel universal of bologna.

 

Of course there is some inequality for crying out loud but we have the worst inequality in our history by far and in the modern world by far. We are also the only country in the modern world that doesn't have socialism which ends up being a living wage health care day care paid parental leave cheap college and training great infrastructure and vacations and ID card to end illegal immigration, and mainly taxing the rich and giant corporations their fair share. We are the richest country in the world and only bologna makes this mess possible. The bologna you believe. The entire world believes the GOP propaganda machine and the GOP base are a laughing stock and horror.
