The false claims that Obama was born in Kenya, was a secret-Muslim, and a Marxist? None of it worked.

The politically motivated witch-hunts with Eric Holder and the Benghazi tragedy? None of it worked.

The myths told about The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)? None of it worked.

The conservative radio and Foxnews 24/7 spin machine? None of it worked.

The last-ditch efforts to blame the Bush-created economic collapse on Obama? None of it worked.

The attempts to systematically disenfranchise women, homosexuals, and minorities? None of it worked.

The made-up notion that Obama was declaring war on religion. None of it worked.

    None of it worked.

The American people saw through it.

The American people aren’t duped by GOP’s arguing of revisionist history.

The American people aren’t as gullible or dimwitted as Glenn Beck’s followers.

The American people stood up and emphatically said NO to the far-right.

This wasn’t just a victory for Obama, it was a victory for the American people.

The far-right may now slither back into the gutter where it belongs.

Well said. One of the great things about this is the tactics which have been repudiated. Tonight we know that blatant voter suppression doesn't work. Flat-out lies, like the Jeep ads, don't work. Torrents of anonymous money don't work. Minimizing the traumatic effects of rape doesn't work. Ridiculous personal attacks don't work (I'm talking to you, Scott Brown). The cherished Republican canard that millionaires will create jobs if only we give them one more tax cut, doesn't work. A pool of nutjob primary candidates doesn't work. Bigotry and misogyny don't work.

Wake up, Republicans, if you want to remain a credible party. Between the hateful campaign strategies, and the batcrap-crazy policy ideas, you are rapidly becoming irrelevant.

Republicans are going to become more and more marginalized as time goes on.

They're hemorrhaging women and minority support at a rate they simply can't keep up with.

Think 2012 was a pounding? Wait until 2016, when the demographics continue to grow more and more in the Democrat's favor, and Hilary Clinton is the nominee.

^^ Totally agree. Lindsey Graham, one of the few grown-ups in the GOP, said that there aren't enough angry white men anymore to keep the party viable.

But I'll bet you ten thousand bucks that the lesson they'll take away is that they weren't conservative ENOUGH in 2012, so they'll lurch even further to the right. That, plus the demographic shifts you mentioned, just about guarantee the obliteration of the Republican party. Unless they can break the stranglehold of the Tea Party, which I doubt.

Tonight's results won't matter to them...they'll never get it. It's not in their upbringing. Raised spoiled and ignorant...what can one expect though? It's always their way or the highway....America told them to hit the highway tonight but, they won't see it that way. I doubt they'll learn a (*)(*)(*)(*) thing.

Who's the next President of the United States?

BTW, he'll have one by millions once the full vote is tallied.

You know I'm not sure but, probably about the same amount Bush never won when he was installed. Bush losing the popular vote didn't seem to bother the rabid right back then so, I don't see your point there.

I do get the feeling the GOP is out of touch with your average American. I personally had nothing in common with Romney, his ilk to me are contemptible. The GOP better get rid of a lot of the dead weight or they will truly go the way of the dinosaurs. They can start with that insane senile old man McCain.

It is approx 432,000 votes right now. That's Obama's big win. Compare that to 2008.

Compare it to Shrub's "big win" in 2000: losing the popular vote by half a million or so.

Ideally the Republican party needs to lose some baggage especially when it comes to social issues. Parties tend to reform and change as major shifts in the socio political spectrum occur. In this case there was a vast change in demographics Obama won this because of the latino, the immigrant and younger vote.

Simply put the rightward shift hurt the Republican party to a great extent. People stopped seeing them as the champions of small business and fiscal responsibility. They aligned themselves with a fringe movement in the Tea party and paid dearly for it. They called the President a fascist and a communist at the same time and expected the black community to not see through their racism. They demanded mandatory deportations of illegal immigrants and expected the latino community to sit quietly and endure it. They tried to paint gay marriage as something other than civil rights and expected the gay and lesbian community to sit quietly and endure it. They tried to push for repeal of healthcare reform and expected the ill and disabled to sit quietly and endure it. And what did the Republican party do? Instead of bashing out at these idiots the party embraced them as their own.

The Republican party needs a change for sure. They can't simply throw white Protestant conservative values at every situation that arises. The demographics of America are changing and the GOP is falling behind.

I don't see them changing at all...I don't think they're at all capable of it. Their rhetoric hasn't changed in 40 plus years...why would it change now?

I call BS, simply becauase I watched CNN and FOX at the moment, online... Both played the same game, close, but needing more and more viewers.... Eh, they are for profit, and they suckered us all in... Both posted winners and losers some with 0% some with 60%.... All for ratings... End of story, they all knew how it ended long before they reported... The peopled got (*)(*)(*)(*)ed, that's all.... they knew, they kept up the game, to get ratings, (*)(*)(*)(*) them all...

Professor Peabody: As of midnight Pacific Time, Obama's popular vote margin is about 1.5 million. That will probably increase through the night as the solid-blue West Coast votes are counted.

I'm already hearing the same thing I heard in 2008: Angry GOP true believers bemoaning the fact that, once again, they picked a fake conservative. Which is just weird to me -- why can't these people manage to nominate someone they like? Hopefully, next time they'll follow their hearts and choose a Sarah Palin or a Rick Santorum. And that will put a final end to the batcrap-crazy faction, and we'll see if there are any moderates left.

Too bad Trump didn't make the promise to shave his head if Obama won!

But, I bet he has been raving and ranting all night!

I wonder if his cook will serve him crow tomorrow?

Obviously WE KNEW that President Obama would win. . .and we even try to tell all of you at the Extreme Right of the Republican party.

You wouldn't listen to us. . .you thought Romney would win in a landslide. Well. . .President Obama won in an electoral college landslide.

    Get used to it!

An Obama win is still a loss for America.. Can we afford 40+months of 7.9% unemployment? Isn't that what he offers? That was his huge improvement... Let's not talk about the average debt he adds, oh no, that would be uncouth, so I'll say no more and savor it... I'll be uncouth next time... :)

The win is massive .. For a Black Muslim incumbent to win after presiding over the worst economy since the great depression is amazing.

This election was handed to the GOP on a silver platter. The party has become so extremist and out of touch with the average American that they have marginalized themselves.

The final tally will be well into the millions .. and a big margin in the electoral college was delivered.
