Tillis is up for reelection in 2020. He knows there are enough Republicans in NC to vote him out if he betrays his own party and his own country. Odd that he'd even consider such a betrayal in the first place.

So, with that logic, you would say 59 Senators betrayed their country today??

The only thing to see here is how congress is in the pocket of the oligarchs. There is no reason to deny a wall on the border....none except those who want open borders are fighting it. Trump is revealing how our government is not concerned with the welfare of the American people.

It looks like Trump's veto will shoot down this effort by congress to keep open borders. Once again Trump shows he is looking out for the American people.

Steal? LOL! Congress gave the President the authority to do so. If you have a problem with it then take it up with them.

A response that might make sense if we were taking a direct citizen vote to overrule the president, but that's not what is happening here, is it?

Instead, it's our congressional representatives who are doing the voting, which is how it works in a republic.

Trump is within his constitutional authority to veto the bill

The founders gave the president that tool precisely to prevent congress from micromanaging the executive branch

Just a reminder. Trump is using the laws that Congress passed. If they want to change those law, that will be up to them.

The American people know Trump is what he can to defend the border.

He looks pretty good next to the Open Border crowd.

If your assertion is based on "polling" data, you might want to check what the polling data said about Trump's chances of winning the 2016 election. If we were able to put this issue to a national vote, I suspect that there would be overwhelming support for securing our southern border, INCLUDING completion of the wall/fence/barrier which is already there. But my assertion cannot be proven any more than polling data can be proven reliable.

Yes he is within his authority, you are right. That's why I hope that Congress will vote to override his veto. Checks and balances. While you're concerned about Congress micromanaging the executive branch, quite a few of us are concerned about Trump's executive branch ignoring the legislative branch which is exactly what he is doing with his fake emergency declaration.

Yes he could. He could also offer sincere and public apologies to any of the following to show that he can discern the difference between personal accountability and legal liability, between morally righteous and morally corrupt behavior, and between power and decency.

    The senators are embarrassing themselves.

I'm glad they're on record though.

Eventually, no matter how desperate some are to hide the truth, it will out.

He promised Mexico will pay for it.
Not some fake National emergency to thwart the constitution.
He even posted his plan for Mexico to pay for it on his campaign website.

The Pew Hispanic Center estimated that 6–7 million immigrants came to the United States via illegal entry (the rest entering via legal visas allowing a limited stay, but then not leaving when their visa period ended). There are an estimated half million illegal entries into the United States each year.

If half million illegal entries into the United States each year is not an open borders, what is? One million? Two?

They likely won't. They are quite spineless group who don't care about the jobs they were elected to. Just give the prez more and more power until there is no reason to even have a congress.

I am also quite sure, you and your fellow tRUMPers will scream the loudest when a prez declares the gun violence in our country a NE or the lack of good affordable healthcare a NE.
But, IMO, the courts will throw this out. As he said in his declaration, he didn't need to do this. What kind of NE is it when the Prez said it's not necessary?
