Unreal story. In your face Chinese colonialism as Chinese nationals in Australia raise Chinese Communist Revolution flag over a police station in Victoria.

The problem here is just plain and simple IGNORANCE. The clueless police Chief has no idea about the history of the Communist, Chinese dictatorship. If he did, then he may not have allowed the flag to be raised. All he knows about is how to run a police force and to be fair, the raising of the Chinese flag won't affect police work. It's just bad optics.

Nah they were celebrating 70 years of communist rule so if he's that ignorant he shouldn't be allowed to run a raffle let alone a Police force. There's no excuse for that sort of bone ignorance in any official.

I wonder what is worse? Here, in Sweden, the homosexual rainbow flag is flown just about everywhere, even where the Swedish flag is not flown: Schools, bathhouses, medical facilities, airport, government buildings ...... No Swedish flag! Am I living in Sweden or Gaylandia?

You did hear about the Hispanic-American (?) who got 17 years in prison for burning a rainbow flag. Totally surreal.

It's a signal to the elites that now is the time to sell you out for money. The police chief's family may have been threatened with death to get this done.

Has any of the posters here any idea of the meaning of the phrase "standard diplomatic practice?" Just because you fly a flag and sing a song it doesn't mean you've just surrendered and that the Chinese Army is landing that afternoon, but there's no point in saying this to these Aussie Trumpclones. In this age of President Oaf your standard greeting even for friends is the raised middle finger and we all know that people don't think you're tough if you're polite

Yes, but that does not apply at a police station unless there are Chinese police representatives in town for some sort of official event.

I don't mean it's required, I mean it's an acceptable courtesy among most all conditions. There are exceptions, I am sure. but most of the time it's just a meaningless piece of diplomatic fluff to make visitors or immigrants feel welcome. Of course, the people who get all bent out of shape here are the same ones who want to beat you up for not saluting with tears running down your cheeks when the American flag goes by in a parade but then refuse to vote or fudge their taxes without a second thought. Flags and anthems are SYMBOLS, not the thing itself. They have their function and importance but the major part of that is just to make people feel better

I agree with everything you say including meaningless symbols, phoney tears, and patriotism in general but I do not agree that it is common practice for police stations to fly the flag of a foreign nation ..... unless there are police representatives of that country who are visiting.

    Hyperbole much?

Call Denis Nayland Smith for I fear the inscrutable yellow hand of President Fu Manchu may be behind this.

Aaah, they're just playin' around. The Chinese are peaceful, there's no way China would ever try to invade or annex, especially a country with such a huge military and so many armed civilians! All worried for nothing!

Lots of things aren't common practice. Did you know that wearing a flag button on your lapel isn't really proper flag etiquette? It's only okay on uniforms and even then only under certain conditions. The Flag is a sacred symbol, not a fashion accessory or a male jewelry item. You can fly any flag you want in America just about anywhere and anytime, as long as it's not in a position denigrating an American flag flying with it and I think Australia agrees with that as they are a people usually exhibiting solid good sense

Sounds like Gaylandia. Having been to Sweden recently, I thought I was in BlackMuslimlandia.

Australia is a beautiful and interesting continent, but they are also about 4/5 one of the most inhospitable deserts in the world and host something like 10 of the most poisonous creatures, including a fatal spider, It's a great place to live, not least because the inhabitants can rest easy in the assurance that nobody wants their country

    Im sure thats correct.

    Australia natural resources

Australia is a significant exporter of natural resources, energy, and food. Australia's abundant and diverse natural resources attract high levels of foreign investment and include extensive reserves of coal, iron, copper, gold, natural gas, uranium, and renewable energy sources.

Symbolism means something. There's a reason why the red hammer & sickle flag never flew over the Capitol building in Washington.

HEY! we have several fatal spiders. The Sydney Funnel Web gets all the media coverage because it is big, ugly, extremely venomous and quite aggressive. However, its range its limited to a small part of one state and it hasn't killed anyone since 1981. Redback spiders, on the other hand, are found all over Australia and have killed as recently as 2016. I live close to the middle of a very large city, and even my tiny backyard has them. I rarely garden or move things around the yard without gloves.

We have at least one more spider capable of killing, several that can cause your flesh to rot and a large species of tarantula.:eekeyes::eekeyes:

.....and that is just the spiders. Pretty much everything here is dangerous. :)

I can't blame you for thinking so. The predominant languages seem to be Arabic and Somali so sometimes wonder myself and when I tried to find a flag to know in which country I am living ...... all I see are rainbow flags so I really don't know if I live in Sweden or not. I have a Swedish passport and I haven't been thrown out of the country (yet) so I guess it's still Sweden.

Minimally stop selling off Australia's assets to China.
NOT FOR SALE. Get it or not.
Probably NOT since your Labour Party sold out the people
and the only avenue of Australia First is with the Conservatives. The horror. The horror.

Embrace Nationalism and shrug off the lie Australia must sell its' assets to be economically viable.
