Because Free People tend to pick whats more reliable and affordable.......

......and manufacturing for $6 and selling for $3.....only works in Paul Krugman's classroom.

Just wondering if its a bad location, or if other problems arose that were unforeseen.

It's an old story and has been going on since the mid-80's as ridiculously expensive wind has gone into fashion........long enough for government subsidies to milked out of it....and then been abandoned as the inevitable maintenance costs proved too much with out government.

The country is littered with the junk of windmills past.

Take a look at this colossal failure in California. Tehachapi Wind Farms.

Abandoned, spinning, post-industrial junk which generates nothing but bird kills.

Thanks, I will read up about it.
So why are they building new ones then? Its rather baffling.

The same con game.......the lucrative subsidies that Big Brother provides.

It happens about every decade.......and not a soul seems to learn lessons from the past while the taxpayer gets to enrich the next crop of opportunists.

Because Obama wants them to and will take you money and give it to them to do so so he can go on TV and declare he is GREEN.

If you think the solution is to take an entire power station offline, then I can only be shocked at the lack of guption you have.

Do you think that a power station has one massive turbine and generator? Could it be possible that a power station has 3 or 4 turbine/generators? Could it be possible for a power station to have the ability to ramp up and down it's output?

Mother of god, if people don't understand how things work, they should stop making fools of themselves to the entire world.

    Here
"Andrew Walden of American Thinker explored nearly 2 years ago the demise of the 37-turbine wind farm at Kamaoa Wind Farm in Hawaii: “Built in 1985, at the end of the boom, Kamaoa soon suffered from lack of maintenance. In 1994, the site lease was purchased by Redwood City, CA-based Apollo Energy. Cannibalizing parts from the original 37 turbines, Apollo personnel kept the declining facility going with outdated equipment. But even in a place where wind-shaped trees grow sideways, maintenance issues were overwhelming. By 2004 Kamaoa accounts began to show up on a Hawaii State Department of Finance list of unclaimed properties. In 2006, transmission was finally cut off by Hawaii Electric Company.California’s wind farms — then comprising about 80% of the world’s wind generation capacity — ceased to generate much more quickly than Kamaoa. In the best wind spots on earth, over 14,000 turbines were simply abandoned. Spinning, post-industrial junk which generates nothing but bird kills."

So we are only going to run them both at partial capacity? The power station will have to be able to supply about 120%-130% peak capacity in case the wind ain't blowing and the sun shining. So how much capacity does the wind/solar provide running at full output?
