Bridges, except those in the interstate system, are a state responsibility. Not a national issue at all.

So to say you are a nation in decay is incorrect.

What about all of the money that the federal government gets in gasoline taxes from drivers who never use the interstate?
I don't know the answer. That's why I'm asking you.
BTW, trump promised to spend 1 trillion on infrastructure if elected. He hasn't done that yet.

What about it? You're saying it should be used to repair the bridges under state jurisdiction?

I dont feel strongly in either direction, but why not just let the state in question take care of it?

I think the system is unfair just like the tax system in this country.

I believe the state of the country's infrastructure is the state of the country's economy.

Infrastructure is not a fixed cost, you bring more people in more money needs to be spent on infrastructure. (both to expand capacity and things getting worn out faster from more use)

In what way? You want Federal funds for state infrastructure?

Democrats are at the heart of the problem. They subsidize electric cars, cars that don't pay to maintain the roads they use. Typical liberal policies that transfer wealth from the poor to the rich. These same liberals whine, cry and jump up and down like the babies they fail to murder as they bemoan the wealth inequality they create. If the subsidies were instead invested in bridges along with a hefty use tax levied on freeloading cars, the problem would go away.

Sorry - I thought republicans did not like having to pay taxes to support people who do not work? I mean why should you pay a fuel excise to pay for a bridge back of nowhere that you will never use?

Just like FEMA. Liberals couldn't figure a way to get our hostages out of Iran, but they were great at transferring wealth from the poor to help the rich insure their waterfront mansions.

If we quit transferring wealth to people who don't need it, perhaps we could do a better job of maintaining our infrastructure.

What did Obama do? The deaf, dumb and blind Democrats wasted 2 years and counting on non existent Trump-Russia collusion when it was really Hillary/DNC-Russia collusion all the time. And the Democrats don't want to get on board with helping Americans even now. They are crazy. It is totally on the Democrats and anyone with even half a brain knows that it's true. They had better start working for AMERICA or they will lose the House AGAIN. Big mistake to give them any kind of power...look what they've done...

We have generals and admirals to promote. We have weapons systems to buy and undeclared wars of aggression to wage. Things to do so that the military industrial complex can get maximum profits.

That sounds about right. Ten percent of our bridges are always in need of repair because you don't repair them until they need it.

The whole world is in decay. It is called the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.

Maybe I should define "creek" instead. At least 20 roads cross the middling sized one near my house as it winds through its course. Dozens of creeks in my county. Starting to get the picture?

Still waiting for OP to comment on what happened to the gigantic Obama "infrastructure" stimulus in my link. Guess I'll keep waiting ;)

Fixing bridges is an excellent vote buying scheme and pet project.

We just need to privatize bridges. That will solve everything.
