This plunge looks a lot like the ones that rocked stocks in 1929, 1987 and 2008...

    Huh?

It would be the Best Thing that could ever happen.

    It would "help" ALL Americans.

You're clueless son. Rates were cut multiple times in the mid to late 90's. Was that keeping the economy afloat? By the end of April I'll have made more money than you're going to for the entire year loser.

It doesn't help you, it doesn't help me. Your life sucked under Obama, it has continued to suck under Trump, and it will suck when the next guy wins becomes President. If your life didn't suck, you wouldn't be crowing about a possible economic disaster and enjoying the markets being in free fall.

To be honest, I preferred his attempts at keeping hysteria to a minimum. I just can't see how the panic is making anything better.

It's a fine line to walk. Trump should have outlined where we're going with this. I'm not a speechwriter, but wouldn't this have been better?

"Fellow Americans, the Coronavirus is a serious problem, and I'll be honest with you, it's going to get worse. We've been through much worse times than these, though. We've handled pandemics before, and come through it. But I get it, these are scary times. So here's what we're doing:
    1. We're restricting all travel from hard-hit countries. Special procedures will be undertaken to minimize the risk of handling cargo from certain countries, and cargo workers will be tested often.
    2. I've asked Congress for X amount to quickly build hospitals, quarantine centers, and ease the financial burden on the poor and middle class and certain critical industries. We will also start a crash program to bring back critical drug/health manufacturing to America.
    3. I am as unhappy as you are about what's going on with the testing. We are doing everything we can. It is a top priority, I will get to the bottom of it, and there will be daily briefings on the progress of it."

    Something like that.

I can't imagine him saying that would prevent a run on toilet paper. Why bottled water? COVID-19 isn't going to be coming out of taps.

Yeah, but good luck trying to time it. Lots of people try though. Some are lucky, others not so much. I prefer diversifying but that's just me.

Buying up toilet paper or bottled water has no negative effect on the country. Trivial

Well, you are suggesting we make the entire country blue. Did you just admit that it doesn't work at that volume?

Oh I don’t want the entire country blue — from my short existence on this planet it seems the best form of leadership is a Democratic President and a divided congress. Republicans in the central leadership position seem to bring out failure.

Interesting. Looking at the failures of both sides, one would think a third party would get more votes.

Democrats are a party that represents a general philsophy.

And also president during the largest increase. But make sure you don't mention that. And make sure you don't mention that the drop was due to a virus that was out of America's control, causing Trump to slow the trade in countries with the virus. Nothing positive, please.

The stock market crises of 1987 and 2008 were caused by different things in different situations altogether. The gamblers who "bought and held" in 2008 made fortunes only because of intervention, manipulation, and meddling by Ben "Helicopter" Bernanke and the Federal Reserve central bank combine.

They 'printed' hundreds of billions of imaginary dollars, slashed interest rates (even though demand for credit was acute), and created a gigantic "Fraud Balloon" which was floating along merrily on grossly over-inflated valuations until the 'repo' crisis caught up with the economy last September, and then this pandemic virus came along recently.

Now, since Trump and Fed are all in favor of it, people who save money in banks, S&L's, and credit unions are going to get screwed in the ass yet AGAIN, with even MORE interest rate cuts on their savings, in order to 'rescue' a gaggle of stock market gamblers.... :buggered: . And we on the Right wonder why those on the Left accuse us of backing factions that so heavily favor the rich exclusively...?! It makes it awful damned hard to defend Trump when he actively and vocally supports this kind of sh!t....

Have you ever gotten finished taking a dump and realized there was no toilet paper in the bathroom?

I have no idea why TP is being bought out, it boggles the mind. I guess if it gets bought out around here then I'll have to wipe with paper towels. Viva, here I come.

Stock up on the oldie solution of using leaves :)

I'm assuming that those buying up TPs think that the virus gives you a runny nose and presume they are stocking up in case they need to be quarantined. I run a hotel and my wholesale supplier of TPs has run out! Oh well, not going to need as many as our occupancy has dropped by half

One would think — this is why Adams said the worst thing that could ever happen to the nation was two parties that place themselves first. To many people look at it as if it was a football game and rooting for their “team”.

Yes yes, republicans are responsible for nothing, Republicans (the politicians not the posters so y’all can’t run to the mods) must be the most incompetent bunch of people on the planet because they literally do nothing.
