The current Pope has been much less committed to covering up the sexual abuse of children than previous Popes. He has sacked senior officials who have been involved in cover ups or who have been found guilty of abuse - including Cardinals. Back in the good old days - under John Paul II - the church would have covered up and blamed the secular world. The reputation of the church was paramount, thousands of raped children a mere detail. This has come as a bit of shock to an organisation that has spent generations systematically abusing & raping children. It is also problematic for people who are far more interested in the authority of the church than the safety of its followers. No doubt many within the organisation and some in the pews are angry at all of this. it does indeed make the job of covering up child abuse and protecting the reputation and finances of the church more difficult.
Of course it is a disgrace and a perversion of Catholicism and the actual teachings of Jesus and yet it is precisely what anyone should have been able to figure that a pretty much openly Marxist would do once he rose to be the top of the Catholic hierarchy and had a real opportunity to destroy from within with more or less impunity and immunity in regards to meaningful personal repercussions. This is why Pope (emeritus) Benedict has begun to write papers again promoting the REAL values and meanings of Catholicism, making Marxist Francis . . . very . . . angry.
If you are Christian then it is your business since Islam assumes that as the Pope does ALL of Christianity does, and thus it treats adherents accordingly.
That has got less to do with this particular Pope and more to do with the entire world getting enough of the Catholic Church's hierarchy heretofore looking away. It's simply that the world has finally reached that point on Francis' watch. He HAD to respond accordingly.
The ennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd is nigh! Run Run!
Welllllll . . . as to that, if the end actually were nigh for the entire world, just precisely where could one run to and be safe?
At least the 13th Imam isn't climbing out of the well he is trapped in. Edit: Maybe that was the 12th.
He didn't HAVE to sack virtually all the Bishops in Chile or the number 3 at the Vatican. He could have done a lot less, as those who hate him would have much preferred.
He couldn't afford to kitty-foot with the issue as previous Popes still could afford to do. Each revelation of priestly wrong-doing means that this Pope or the next Pope is going to have to be SEEN to be . . . very . . . unhappy. But in this we can agree to disagree as it's mostly just an intellectual exercise for me, dissecting Catholic politics.
Sure he could avoid it. It isn't like we get a vote. He made a conscious decision to do more than his predecessors. Whatever your issues with him (and I doubt they are soundly based) pretending he is only doing this because he has been forced to is just silly.
You cannot follow Islamic news agencies and make statements like this. It's not truthful. It's biased and bigoted. Renounce your violent religious beliefs and join the world in the search for peace.
I do not like the Catholic Church but this Pope appears humble, peaceful and an egalitarian. I can understand how that would piss many Christians off!
Don't get too carried away. That he is an improvement on his immediate predecessors in some respects is a very low bar indeed. He appears decent.....for a Pope. We will only get a full read on what he is when he is gone.
Got no more time for Islam than I have for your repulsive religion, suck it up my little Muslim hating Christian.
Many Americans were very disappointed that the world did not get a conservative, orthodox black pope from Africa. Rightfully so.
