I was wondering what others thought on having a permanent area to discuss thoughts on mods and how they are doing. As a community, should we be able to discuss those that regulate us?

    Good luck.

As for our mods: its a thankless, unpaid, pain in the ass position. For the most part they do a good job here. Ive seen some serious (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about them (the mods here) elsewhere and i think its a chicken(*)(*)(*)(*) thing to do.

You express your consent based upon your presence. As has been said, good luck with that.

    Two things.

    1. Impressed the mods let this stay open, kudos to them

    2. This is a community we share together, discussing how this community is policed is normal in real world settings... should be online as well IMO. As long as it stays civil.

This isn't the real world. If it was, half the people here would be trying to kill the other half. As for staying civil, good luck with that too. From some of the posts I've seen, it would turn into a real mud slinging event as soon as someone was disciplined. Besides, there are enough forums to discuss anything you want, including the mods. As a matter of fact, you're doing it here. The mods are doing a fine job, so just leave well enough alone, O.K.?

There should be, but it should be limited to people who have donated. I have not donated, so I don't believe I or anybody else without money in the game should be allowed to criticize moderation.

LOL, seems like someone has not actually read the TOS, discussing the mods and moderation is a violation that can and does get people put in time out and even banned. I would suggest that they beg the Mods to not give them an infraction and ask to have the thread pulled before they get themselves in hot water. From my experience most Mods (not all) do not care what you have to say about their actions, even though we still send them in reply to their actions. It is a thankless job that no one really would want and so long as they are fair I do not have an issue with them. They are also the reason that I take breaks from this and other sites that I belong to from time to time, it is time for me and them to cool off, and if their actions bother you that much I would suggest a short break and find something useful to do.

Mods are simply members with extra responsibility and authority. I don't have an permanent area to discuss thoughts on you, Oldyoungin, and how you are doing in your posting? How long would a thread title referring specifically to you in a critical way stay?

When I can control whether or not you are allowed to post or not , we will discuss this my friend. I find it odd that people are so scared to discuss those who regulate them on the Internet. Oh well.

You are making them sound like the FCC. Its an all volunteer army here. There is no evidence of fear except a fear of distraction and discord. People are just not as interested in focusing on the personalities and politics of the forum, as they are the personalities and politics beyond. its IP address

    Dangerous grounds.
Challenging the Rules is against The Rules

I am not allowed to express nor challenge a rule regarding
certain police force on persons in a State of Riot.

I learned this from the Mod involved.

    G'Luck !

Exactly. The mods are volunteers. The guy who runs this board does so out of his own pocket (supplemented by donations). If you don't like it (aimed at Oldyoungin), then leave. If you don't like one of their rulings, go over to the mod's thread area, and start a thread where only you and the mods can see it. As I said before, IMHO, if you haven't donated, you shouldn't have much say in how this board is run. Put your money where your mouth is.

Also, if you really have something that is bugging you, put it on a thread, and risk being banned. I've been suspended and eventually banned from another board for being honest. So what? The mod there bothered me enough that I really didn't want to come back. I came here shortly afterwards.

I have never had any problems obeying 'house rules'. I view myself as a guest, at the invitation of the host. I don't complain or demand 'justice' or equity in treatment with other guests. I just play the parlor game, eat the snickerdoodles, and drink the punch.

I was part of such an experiment on another political forums system. It turned out to be a non-stop b-itching fest in which all of the paranoids got together and vented about things that, frankly, none of them knew anything about. When mods would 'talk' to them and explain how decisions were reached, they declared that the mods were lying to them. Hell they even said that about the freaking forums system owner who gave them exactly the same information. Then they would take their rage infused paranoia onto the regular forum boards and begin openly attacking moderators. Now while that's great good fun for the paranoids it helped totally FUBAR that particular forums system. Eventually so many posters got banned as a result that it became pretty much pointless to post there anymore.

    Just a reminder:

    Rules & Guidelines

    8. ATTACKING OR CALLING OUT STAFF OR ADMINISTRATION

Moderators, Advisors, and Greeters are volunteers who work very hard and make a number of personal sacrifices to make the community as welcoming as possible. They may not always be right, because they're human - but they will always act in good faith and with the best of intentions, and this forum would not be possible without their efforts. When they're posting on the forums, feel free to debate and argue with them just as you would any other poster, but attacking or calling out a staff member who is acting in their official capacity is against the rules.

We welcome constructive criticism or complaints, but the public forums are not an appropriate venue for criticizing the staff, administration, or ownership of the site. If you have questions about a specific moderator decision, feel free to send a PM to that moderator, an administrator, or the site owner. Or, alternatively, members can always start threads in the Feedback forum to ask the entire staff questions about specific moderator actions or general questions about forum rules. Please be aware that the rules prohibiting personal attacks against staff also apply in the Feedback and Disputing Banning Resolutions forums.

I was a Mod for a while doing a very menial easy job. Frankly, I couldn't hack it. I can't imagine having to be a full-time mod. Kudos to all the mods here (even though my posts have have been sanctioned on occasion). Look, some of these topics can be very emotional and I think the Mods do a good job here walking the thin line between Draconian censorship and a free-for-all chaotic mud fight.

One thing management might want to reflect on, bearing in mind the PF mission statement, is the fact that it's not possible to engage in respectful debate while contending for a position that is self-evidently insane, however socially acceptable it may be.

Patently false. It is almost always possible to engage in respectful debate. That which you categorize as 'self evidently insane' is a subjective determination. What a person contends, has no inherent bearing on the style or the attributes he carries into the engagement. Don't make excuses for acting like a boor or acting in the name of boors.

I would certainly expect those who are oblivious to the inseparability of sanity from respect to think so. Why anyone else would I can't imagine.

And there's the rub: the relentlessly and unapologetically sane must expect to be considered boorish at best by those to whom sanity is anathema.

Nah, they do a good job. And you can always give your complaint to the mod directly and it's ok as long as one remains civil.

If this was/is a pay site, sure. But for most it's free. Only donors have given money.

If one thinks they are insane, they can seek help and stay off forum boards.
