PARIS, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Thousands of people took to the streets of Paris on Sunday to protest against soaring prices as weeks of strikes for higher wages at oil refineries spurred demands for a general strike.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/thousands-take-streets-paris-protest-soaring-prices-2022-10-16/

The leader of hard-left party La France Insoumise (France Unbowed), Jean-Luc Melenchon, marched alongside this year's Nobel Prize winner for Literature, Annie Ernaux. He called a general strike for Tuesday.

"You're going to live a week like no other, we are the ones who started it with this march," he told the crowd.
Melenchon followed the footsteps of four unions - but not France's biggest, the moderate CFDT - which have called for strikes and protests on Tuesday for wage increases.

This is not the only EU nation protesting. Seems that a lot are not happy with the sanctions imposed on Russia.

Today China is stopping all Russian LNG gas to the EU. They fear they won't have enough to last them the winter, and have to think of their own people first.

And here are the latest protests in Italy. No Nato they cry.

Isn't it nice of India to tell us what's going on in the world. :applause:

They are even protesting in Moldova. Assuming 70K counts as a protest. It won't be long and the pro-idiot crowd will come along and make nonsensical claims about ukie land winning the conflict and the EU/US are winning the sanctions war.

Does this mean the western sanctions on Russia have most definitely backfired? And the pending collapse of the EU and NATO. What a shame.

I hope the US takes notice and puts the blame for your inflation where it belongs...onto Russia, not Biden.
France is always manifesting, demonstrating against something. It has a VERY robust democracy.
And no the EU and NATO are in lockstep. They know Putin is desperate. It is only a matter of time before he can't sustain his "project".
He is one. We are many and we support each other. (Except perhaps the daft Brits).

Ahahaha... Maybe you should go back to reality?
Germany declared competitive war on France (Figaro)
    https://www.lefigaro.fr/conjoncture...-franco-allemand-cul-par-dessus-tete-20221012
Everything happens as I said just recently. First, economic wars, and then a very real (with guns and tanks) war in Europe.
The French will quickly remember who the Boches are, the Germans will remember the frog eaters, and both of them will remember the pasta lovers. Everything is like in the old days.
It's easy to be polite and honorable in "fat" times. Try to remain the same in a time of need and deprivation, when you have to choose between your shirt and your neighbor's pants. Solidarity or the principle: "Save yourself who can"? What comes first? For the political leadership of France and Germany, such a question is not worth it.

    Those protesting are ****ing idiots.

This is the world now. There is no "reset" or going back. What...are they under the illusion they can just go "oh **** sorry Putin...can you turn the oil back on please?"

That's not how this works. Putin ****ed everything up. This is the new world now. If anything they should be complaining to get more nuclear plants back online. Or find a way to get oil that isn't from Russia

But the Russia tit is sour now. It's gone. There is no going back. Putin ****ed it all up. Russia cannot be trusted with trade or much anything else. That's just the world we now live in.

    Should have listened to Trump

Hotels in Russia? So. Losing a hotel if **** goes sideways is something you can afford to risk. Hotels is just gaming Russian geography. Hardly comparable into getting energy dependant on them. Trumped publicly and loudly warned Europe about getting dependant on Russian oil.

They should have listened to Trump.

Indeed. It is a very healthy democracy in which the people have a real voice and don't have to wait for it to be heard.

Reads like an opinion piece progressive jerk off too without any real substance.

"Obviously, in a scenario in which Trump wasn’t a dictator-loving sociopath,"

LOL. I'm gonna guess this comment was because he said Putin was smart? Huge eye roll to the panties of the overly sensitive idiot who wrote this ****. And a big lol to those who read it and post it like it means anything of value.

Would you like to use facts to back up your opinions or just rely on emotional response?

I mean the fact is that I can post a 7 minute video where he scolds nato for getting energy dependant on Russia while demanding they increase defense spending which again is counter product to Putin and Russia since NATO is Putin's largest concerns.

I can also point to you to a clip where he publicly scolds Germany for becoming energy dependant on Russia and congradulates Poland for not getting into bed with Russia at a UN meeting only to have Germany laugh at him because "oh Trump...".

These are not things you declare or promote if you want to see Russia succeed. But that's ok...you post your little opinion piece you feel is your win. lol. Trump said Putin was smart hurr durr!

    Here's another clip

"To me it is a tradgedy, it is a horrific thing that is being done where you are feeding billions and billions, primarily from Germany into the coffers of Russia..."

"How can you be working for peace and working from strength when somebody has that kind of power over your country?"

"Mr President, would you tell Putin to stay out of US elections?" - "yes!"

But no no...he said Putin was smart and wanted to build hotels in Russia...lol.

Putin is smart. He managed to get almost all of Europe under his thumb while at the same time being an authoritarian war mongering vile piece of ****. The dumbasses are the progressive who were in charge and fostered that kind of dependancy with the same person who they despise because progressive dipshit ideology which you support thought that it would never be used against them because we are all one and all that nonsense.

You wanna be mad? Be mad at the people who made that deal.
