Today Florida is recording the most deaths (69)since May 8. My own state, Mississippi, has 28, which is a new high, as far as I recall.

These 2 states are about 3 weeks into the phased re-opening. I hope this pattern doesn't prove to be the rule.

It IS possible to hold a demo with physical distancing, but no one is doing it, and that is dangerous.

None of the major networks are scaremongering about how the throngs of liberal rioters are spreading the COVID right now, and it’s going to lead to huge spikes in infections and death, so it can’t be a serious issue. Professional journalists would never ignore such a threat to human life for purely political reasons, that’s just impossible. When CNN tells me the rioters are putting us all at dire risk of infection and death, then I'll believe it. Until then, COVID is cancelled.

We do sometimes talk about future needs, in this regard, but we'll be swinging chainsaws and splitters for a few years yet. I suspect we'll resort to bought wood at some point, though. Not sure I could ever give up wood heating .. it's so much better than any other form.

Our family home in the bush is heated by wood burners but I’ve done my share of chopping kindling and splitting blocks.

 

I note the daily infection rate isn't slowing, and the daily deaths are up again

 

Also noted that California and Texas aren't looking good.

 

People will do even less dining out, shopping, etc. if we have more cases.

I need about 10 cords of wood, each winter.
I am a sissy, I like to have 25 C, over 80 in my house, when it is -25 to -30 outside and the wind chill around -50 and the snow drifting 6 feet high.
So I have a outdoor furnace, which heats water and I have radiators all over my house, floor heating in my winter garden. I have 200 gallons in the stove and 100 gallons of water in the house, hot water storage capacity, for heating. During the day solar panels help.
When I get home from work I load the furnace. Than I put 20 layers of cloth on, with a heated hoody at the bottom. Heated socks.
Most important is the harness for the Red Whine bottle, needs to stay warm. It has a hose, which leads to my mouth. Than I woddel to the tractor, its a convertible. Engine and diesel are pre-heated and than it is time to plow and feed the livestock. When I get back to house, plug in the tractor, stuff wood in the furnace, feed the pigs and by than the bottle is empty and I am shiit faced and my outer coverall frozen solid.
But I got over 80F in the house and a cold Bier is just right. That fun lasts for 2 month, sometimes 3.
I do most of the wood myself, got 30 acres of forest, Ponderosa. I got rather good with the chainsaws, wedges. Its large Ponderosas. 4 feet blade on the chain saw, its a Boss, keeps you young fit and rather alert, 100 feet of wood can ruin Miller Time.
No air condition in my house, 100F just perfect.
