Oh well. We'll just pretend it isn't so and insist that MAGA's wall is necessary to stop those drugs coming in.

Traffickers at the El Chapo trial say drugs aren't smuggled through open parts of the border

New York (CNN)Most drugs are smuggled into the United States onboard fishing boats, trains, tractor-trailers and ordinary cars that come into the country at legal ports of entry, according to former cartel members who've testified in the trial of notorious cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Some cartel members have testified about using underground tunnels. But none have said they've transported drugs into the United States at unwalled sections of the border.

The testimony comes at a time when President Donald Trump's push for a border wall includes arguments that it would help stop the flow of drugs into the United States.

    ... https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/12/us/drug-traffickers-el-chapo-trial-drugs-across-border/index.html

OK, this is why there is no negotiating with MAGA or giving in to his unreasonable demands. His demands are fantastical, not fact-based.

To varying degrees some drugs come more through the ports but others like pot only 30% comes through the ports.

Of course that is one reason Trump has asked for the port and technology funding.

Most of the illegals do not come through the ports and an average of one a day die trying. Walls work.

So you say the border patrol is lying? Trump has compromised proposing what the Border Patrol needs while the dems refuse to negotiate.

Walls don't work. People go around them by all sorts of means.

Must be why so many democrats wall off their compounds.

Walls work, it’s about time democrats do.

Stop playing dumb. People aren't nearly as motivated to get over some estate wall as they are to get across a national border, and in nowhere near the same numbers.

Also, again, most illegals do not come here by sneaking across open parts of the border.

No, some try to storm the walls but are driven back. Most try the open border.

Walls work as democrats have proven by voting for 700 miles of them previously because they know they work and as idiot Acosta proved.

You aren't doing a very good job disputing the OP lol. Trumps silly wall will have zero effect on the flow of drugs into this country. ALL evidence points to this conclusion.

So now what drug traffickers say is taken as gospel truth? Hahaha!

Besides, El Chapo was not the only drug kingpin in Mexico. Most of the violence in Mexico is between rival drug cartels. So someone is bringing drugs across the unprotected border.

The Drug Traffickers know more about how drugs get into this country than you do.

As far as the Mexican Cartels? Let them kill each other. Who cares?

Not all drugs pass through the ports as has been proven before but most illegals pass through the open border and as democrats have said in the past it is a humanitarian crisis and must be stopped so voted for walls, that is until TDS set in.

So Trumps proposal is 215 miles of wall, port upgrades, personnel, and technology. what the Border Patrol says is needed both so they can do a better job and to keep them safer.

    Democrats are against that because...politics.

Of that 5.7 billion Trump is requesting only part of it goes to the 215 miles of wall, some of which is new wall but most is for replacing old fences or vehicle barriers that illegals are walking through.

    Probably so.

But we know they do a terrible job of stopping the influx of narcotics, and that guys like El Chapo, Escobar, et al got their product across regularly. It wasn’t walking across a border either.

From the sounds of things current cartels seem to have no concern of a wall impacting business.

What’s that got to do with the amazing routes they create or the trafficking of their product?

Who smuggles pot anymore when it's legal in so many states? Who smuggles pot anymore when anybody can grow their own?

Everyone is talking about making our entry ports more secure and if that happens then the cartels will be looking for the next easiest way to get their drugs into this country and an open border might be appealing to them.

Regarding the argument of illegals overstaying their visas, how does that apply to the murderers and MS13 gang bangers who've been deported numerous times?
