It's one of the few things a felon actually CAN do. Now, if you find that disturbing this is a time to find that traditional liberal mindset on criminal justice reform because felons have a harder time getting a 9-to-5 than they do running for POTUS.

They wouldn't lie about it not being her account. Right?

They kinda need to, because there's a lot riding on this trial.

Thanks for the post. I always thought a felony conviction was a diqualifier, but you are correct….

Quite honestly, incarcerating Trump before the election date would backfire in a major way(and it's all good for the judiciary not to care, until **** hits the fan). Perception trumps reality(pun not intended, or maybe it is lol). What he means by "more popular" is that his incarceration allows him to claim a martyr status(think Nelson Mandela, even though they're nothing alike.)

Those who were leaning to voting for him, would do so even more. Those masses of people would even pick up their canvassing efforts and undecideds could potentially make that swing decision. Historically any political persons we have tried were already in office, we'd never been in the situation of incarcerating someone on the campaign trail.

And the symbolism of that, as seen with the 14th amendment gambit is so destructive that it will take us a while to heal. Also, because of the election people will only want to hear what they want to hear. I feel like had this waited until 2025, we would've been able to prosecute Trump without any fear of intimidation or claims of election interference.

    great post....agree

The sad part is that a guilty conviction on any of the charges he currently has will only make him more popular with his base. This phenomenon is something I just dont understand, but it IS real.

I don't think he's going to be incarcerated before the election. Does an ankle bracelet count as incarceration? He might very well take off for Russia as soon as the elections are called for Biden.

Trump's jet has a range of up to 8K miles. Mar-a-Lago (Palm Beach) to Moscow is under 6K.

I don't know if he'd do it, but I'd keep an eye on the possibility.

I love how you guys think that anyone who thinks that Trump shouldn't be above the law is a "fascist."

I don't share your belief that holding powerful politicians to the rule of law is "fascism." Historically literate people would recognize the opposite as the road to fascism.

It isn't hard to understand. Trump claims he's being targeted and the prosecutors going after him are working overtime to make it look like that's exactly what is happening.

Willis and James campaigned on prosecuting Trump, so it's impossible to say they aren't targeting him.

It's fascist when the charges are bogus.

And that's where you go wrong, clearly you think the politicians are clean as the driven snow..

That sort of thinking is what gave political corruption the green light to the fascist highway..

Grats, that's just what politicians have worked to achieve :rock_slayer:

Thankfully they are objectively well founded. Hence why the only people unwilling to discuss any details about the charges are the ones who call them bogus while plugging their ears and screaming LALALAICAN'THEARYOU as loud as they can.

And the people who say that it is are willing to discuss the law and evidence. You are not. Neither is anyone else "defending" Trump. All you guys have is LALALA. When one side has evidence and the other side has LALALA, evidence wins.

Well the other side sees this as a very dangerous cross roads. I mean look at charge specifically. The feds looked into this and there was no there there, Bragg looked into and said NY wouldn't charge, Stormi lost a lawsuit and had to pay Trump over breaking this NDA, the statute of limitation has run out on the state charge since it was from 2017, Bragg suddenly changes his tune, Biden's DOJ Trump hunter goes to the NY vs Trump law suit case first then goes to the city's DA office, files charges during an election year, ties it to a federal campaign finance charge that they can't prosecute as state DA's, and one that the feds have already looked into and found no problems with.

This is political prosecution 101 and the very thing our forefathers fought the British over. Personally, I don't like Trump but damn I don't want America turning into a Banana republic where local officials can trump up charges to take anyone they want all in the name of politics.
