It is a law created by Congress and has to be wavied separately and that can be filibustered from what I have read and heard. The vote for the wavier and the vote to confirm are two separate votes.

The art of the deal. Always start out with your strongest position.

It's like negotiating a price. You can always go down but you can't go up.

Trump seems to have the bad habit of saying whatever pops into his head at any given moment and he does seem to have a thin skinned personality that's easy to get under. Given that, I also think he's quick to go back the next day and correct errors made when he is angry.

Let's see your polling data on that. Unless you just pulled a nonsensical one sentence blurb out of your ear with no factual basis. I can't imagine you'd do that.

It has been my experience that those who always find it necessary to denigrate others suffer from massive inferiority complexes themselves.

That's funny because that's all you've been doing to military personnel since you got on this thread. Or were you describing yourself just now?

We live in a world full of conflict and war is always a possibility. That doesn't mean you should actively want war just for the sake of having it. I'd rather be the one who's best at killing then the one who's best at dying.

I got out of the army 24 years ago, in all that time I don't think I have ever heard a vet bash someone for not serving.

Where do you get the idea he wants to destroy relations with allies?
Even the anti Trump New York Times gives him credit for wanting to work with allies. He even disagrees with Trump's view about scrapping the Iran nuke deal.

Where you get that Trump is interested in waging unnecessary wars is beyond me. From my view in the bleachers his interest is in strengthening trade deals not nation building.

Because it is a separate LAW that Congress created and passed. And LAWS can be filibustered. Reid only created the 51% for the confirmation votes. He has to get the waiver before he can be considered at all.

No, I need a cite. I cannot find anything in the Senate rules that says that but I can find a lot that provides the majority leader a lot of power in bringing up legislation or confirmation votes.
