If Trump somehow manages to intimidate enough Republicans by fear of vendettas so that he can announce his pursuit of self-pardons in 2024, the gala event could be staged as "The Masque of the Red Death" at his pleasure palace in his soon-to-be-inundated swamp.

I for one did defend Obama on the birtherism. Certainly not because I liked him, because I didn't. But I don't let partisanship get in my way. I did my own research into the laws of the time and because of that research I defended him.

As for being a gay, Muslim with a transexual wife...bleh, partisanship comments that I never took part in.

However, ALL of that pales in comparison to what Trump has been put through. He had the majority of the major news media outlets out to get him, he had a corrupt FBI going after him thanks to a political opponent, he has been investigated by every DA that even thought that they could get him on something, all fishing for SOMETHING to get him on. And frankly he's weathered it far better than most (especially politicians) would under such scrutiny. He also had a Congress doing everything that they could to impeach him for BS claims. No... about the only Presidents that could claim as much crap as Trump has taken would be the ones that were assassinated.

What the Trump problems disclosed is the media bias and power they have to influence opinion and who we look to for leadership. The real power is held by those who control the narrative. I don't trust the MSM, you may not trust the MSM but millions of people believe those talking heads would never lie to them.

Perhaps it was a mistake to elect such a scandal ridden candidate in the first place.
Investigations into Trump didn't just start on the day he came down the escalator.

But then he'll start a Civil War.

He'll lose that too, but damage the country and hurt lots of people in the process. This is why he must be convicted of insurrection.

There was no evidence to support. It was pure politics. We "rabidly" voted for his and you conscientiously voted for 'theirs'.

Trump will be convicted if Indicted, that is a foregone conclusion. Insurrection is a crime not a political event like impeachment and it will be tried in a court not a chamber of elected deputies. The months and even years of illegal planning are known and have been attested to by hundreds. The actual violent act was witnessed by literally millions as it was broadcast worldwide on tv while it happened. If Trump is tried and not convicted our justice system no longer exists in any meaningful sense.

And yet at the time he announced he was running he had far less scandals than Hillary Clinton. And while yes, he had some investigations prior to being President...those intensified dramatically when people found out he was actually a serious contender. And still have not let up.

Hope springs eternal in the Trumper's heart doesn't it? No, we're not going to keep trying what doesn't work. We now realize just how corrupt and brainwashed the Trumpers have become and no longer have any faith that their better natures will manifest. In Congress at least, most don't have any. Time to bring Don Donald up before a judicial court and have him stand naked before the Law shorn of his MAGA trappings and bereft of all his brainwashed lickspittles.

You're quoting a post from October 10, 2021, so I've changed my mind since then; I do think Trump will be indicted. On what? Doesn't matter.

I can't take the whole "insurrection" charge seriously. Not when riots happened on Trumps inauguration day and they were called just that, riots. Organizers straight up said that they were going to shut the inauguration down. Or when the White House was directly attacked by "protestors" in 2020. Both of those instances happened and with in a couple of weeks were forgotten. We're STILL talking about the 2021 Jan 6 riots as if they were somehow different.

As the President's fortunes improve and the Blowhard reaps the whirlwind, it's important that Trump, the object of a virtual Rockette chorus line of ass-kickers in diverse courts and commissions, persist in threatening recidivism.

"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

I would argue no. The President and VP are not listed in the opening clause of ELECTED officials. If the only other two federal ELECTED officials were included then the following clause "or hold an office" would make the open clause superfluous. If would merely state at the opening "No one can hold any office..........". That phrase appears to me to be a catchall for all the other lower appointed offices under the United States and States to numerous to specifically list.

Qualifications for President and Vice-President are listed in Article II Section 1. And since there have been no charges for insurrection let alone anyone with leading one...........

And of course the clause was to punish those who served in the Confederacy and was reversed three years later when full amnesty was granted to the former Confederates.

I don't believe the AP and Reuters engage in flat-out conspiracies, no. These are old and trusted services and their continued existence depends on their veracity.
It doesn't bother you guys even a little that just about EVERYBODY has to be "in" on these things and that ONLY Nutty McNutface's blog from lower Elbonia has figured out these Cabals that run rings around the CIA?
