Trump goes after Biden — and against advisers' advice

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump appeared unnerved as Joe Biden secured the endorsement of the top firefighters' union, issuing Monday a string of four tweets targeting the Democratic presidential candidate and union leaders.

That's exactly the behavior several of the President's political advisers have been warning him against, wary that Trump will elevate a potentially formidable rival, two sources familiar with the discussions told CNN.

Trump, who has privately been unnerved at the prospect of a Biden candidacy, has struggled to resist getting drawn in by Biden's allure and his attacks since the former vice president officially entered the presidential race last week.

After Biden launched his campaign by focusing on the President's response to white supremacist demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trump added fuel to the fire by defending his response once again -- this time saying he answered "perfectly" and reigniting a debate about his response, which prompted criticism even from fellow Republicans.

I've got to say, this is going to be a fun campaign season. Trump will be spewing his ridiculous lies and childish attacks, and Democratic candidates will be trouncing him left, right and center! It's getting to be popcorn time.

 

Trump sniping at Biden only enhances him in the perception of potential Democratic primary voters.

Bidden gave a 30 minute speech. I watched the whole thing. It was really boring. First he put down middle class people saying they "weren't sophisticated". Then he put down America saying it wasn't going well. He put down America for about 20 minutes then promised to cut college tuition by 50%. Then he said GM was moving to Mexico which is true. Something Trump has been griping about for months at his rallies. He's threatening tariffs if they do. What Joe gonna do about it? Probably ship the Mexicans here and pay them a $1.60 an hour that way they won't have to move the plants and Americans will lose the good paying jobs to illegals.

Judging by the crowd size, the short unenthusiastic speech, I don't think Joe will catch on.

 

The 'dunno' may be the most accurate thing your wrote above. Biden did not put down the middle class. Trump knows better than to do more tariffs. Trump's policies are losing jobs to Mexico.

I can't find any poll that has Biden by 8% over Trump nationally.

As soon as Trump releases his returns, the Senators should release theirs. Of course we know that'll never happen since trump will never release his even though he promised when campaigning for President.

 

Rush would disagree with you. The polls about Trump are not relevant really to the election, but the opinion polls for the dem candidates have some validity and use.

 

It is far more dangerous to wear a maga hat to a Democrat rally then it is to wear a Biden hat to a trump rally.
