Instead of advocating for free market principles like lowering taxes and reducing burdensome regulations so that businesses would have an incentive to stay or even move back to this country, Trump instead makes a dictate like a dictator saying that he won’t allow companies to move abroad.

Trump's statist mentality continues to ooze out.

"Mexico is going to pay for the wall and they’re going to be happy about it because the cost of the wall is peanuts compared to the kind of money they’re making" off the United States, Trump said.

How does this make sense to anyone? Am I missing something?

We don't live in a free market society to start. Second, we should not reward companies that taken jobs out of our country and to Mexico.

Nope, sorry. It's more than that. When our tax dollars support the product and then buy it as well, it's not that simple. You must look at the big picture.

We don't reward companies that move out of the country.

And we shouldn't make it illegal for companies to move out of the country which is what I'm assuming Trump is saying to do.

What we should do is create incentives for companies to stay or move back by lowering taxes and reducing burdensome regulations.

    What benefits are those?

And did he not say he wouldn't "allow" them to move?

Only problem is that a president cannot dictate whether businesses do work inside the nation or outside. That's a purely business decision not within government purview unless some new legislation makes it punitive in some way, or increases cost burdens intentionally for businesses that shift jobs overseas/outside the border. Presidents should never have the power to dictate to a company where their work is to be performed. It's a business' job to operate within the confines of laws of the land, within the tax regulations, and to do what is best for their individual business. How that decision impacts the overall economy is the worry of legislators, not the business leaders. They owe an allegiance to their owners, who are the stockholders, and if that has a negative impact economically, that's the job of government to worry about. But not a president himself without legislative action.

This is the problem with Trump. He seems to think the President is owner, CEO, and majority shareholder of America.

Ford Throws UAW (and Trump) a Bone, Shifts Work from Mexico to Ohio

With barely a month to go in its contract talks, Ford Motor Co. has thrown a meaty bone to the United Autoworkers Union. And it may also take Ford out of the presidential debate, where it recently became a target of Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

Negotiations got off to a slightly testy start last month following news that the second-largest domestic automaker would likely move production of several key small car lines from Michigan to Mexico. Now, however, Ford says it plans to shift a heavy-duty version of its F-Series pickups from Mexico to a plant in Ohio, a move that will "secure" 1,000 union jobs.

"Our investment in Ohio Assembly Plant reinforces our commitment to building vehicles in America," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas. "Working with our partners in the UAW, we found a way to make the costs competitive enough to bring production of a whole new generation of work trucks to Ohio."

Anything that involves tax dollars involves the government. Any break or incentive also involves the government. He can't dictate where the work is performed and to think that's his goal is to not understand his comments. He CAN take away breaks that the government has been giving ford, which in turn would make them stop going foreign.

Not an Obama supporter, so I'm not sure what this post was supposed to accomplish.

Are you operating under the delusion that anyone opposed to Trump must support Obama?

So those police forces can buy from someone else.

    - - - Updated - - -

That is NOT what Trump said. He said he would not allow any deal that would allow a company to build a factory overseas. Stop lying to defend him.

See, it's not Obama who thinks he is king, it's folks like you who think he thinks he is. This whole messiah/king nonsense was something people who don't like him made up because it's funny to talk about in a conversation about a president you don't like.

I would caution not to ever take ridiculous criticism too seriously, or you'll end up sounding like....well.....you did.

Ford has been expanding its presence South of the Border, even as a wide range of competitors set up or expand their own Mexican operations. But the news didn't sit well with the UAW, whose members have been looking at job security as one of the key issues in the current contract talks.

The issue also landed at the center of the U.S. presidential campaign, with Trump declaring that he would take steps to heavily tax any new products Ford planned to import from Mexico - though he notably did not mention vehicles that other manufacturers bring in.

It is pretty funny. You know you can never have an honest debate when people start with that silliness.

Nice to know Trump has so much faith in capitalism that he believes it needs a massive government bailout.
