Trump sues to stop his tax returns from being released to NY prosecutors.
    https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/19/politics/trump-tax-returns-vance/

So here is how Trump has "evolved" on his tax returns.

    1. For the last 40 years, EVERY SINGLE candidate for president has publicly released their tax returns.

    2. Trump promises to release his returns in accordance with that tradition.

    3. Trump backpedals, citing the nonsense excuse that he can't release the returns until the IRS is done auditing them.

    4. Trump refuses to address the question of why he doesn't at least release older returns which have already cleared the audit process.

    5. No returns are ever released.

    6. When various groups -- including Congress and district attorneys -- attempt to obtain the returns, Trump sues to prevent it.

Yep, nothing to hide here.

Meanwhile, Trump supporters are able to be simultaneously incurious about Trump's refusal to release his returns, while being absolutely CERTAIN that Hillary or Obama are corrupt, even though both of them have released YEARS of tax returns so we know exactly where their money comes from.

Such is the world we live in now.

So you must be a very trusting fellow and believe that the TV Con Man is not hiding anything and you believe your Con Man that an IRS audit were holding up release. I do not have that kind of faith in ConMen.

Good for him. He released them to the IRS and they know how to reach him if they have any concerns. Maybe your party can find something else to cover up that Trump is the lesser of evils.

See, this is what Trump supporters have come to: pretending that the public release of one's tax returns is about tax enforcement.

Hint: it's not. It's about seeing where one's money comes from, so voters can judge the candidate's conflicts of interest.

Which is why EVERY SINGLE CANDIDATE in the last 40 years has released their returns.

    Except Trump.

Just admit it, guys: you don't care if Trump is corrupt. You don't care if he owes millions to the Russians, or is making decisions (such as his oddly deferential support for Saudi Arabia) based on his own personal financial interest, rather than the good of the country. You don't care if he's using government dollars to prop up his own businesses.

Because if you did care about corruption, you'd understand why we ask every candidate to release their returns. And find it odd that Trump refuses to do so.

    Shame on you.

I get it. He’s on board with the issues they care about. Abortion guns and immigration. Would you really want to damage a president who was doing things you like because he’s corrupt?

I might not like it, but corruption is a basic disqualifier. If the president is beholden to foreign interests, or making decisions to line his own pocket, I would absolutely want to know. Anything else is destructive of democracy and national security.

I never once complained about the various investigations of Clinton and Obama (well, except for maybe the 10th or 11th Benghazi investigation). If there are reasonable grounds for investigation, have at it. We can argue over what it means once we have the facts. But I strongly prefer excessive transparency to excessive secrecy.

I'd love to comment on Trump filing another preventative lawsuit, but it was as predictable as the sunrise...

I still think Mnuchin should be sitting in jail today... It's one thing for prosecutors to get this information via a court, but it's in the freaking law that Congress gets them on a valid request...

I always figured the first article of impeachment would be OOJ or CFV, but it might just turn out to be the most obvious thing of all...

Contempt of Congress.. Nixon's third article. Should have filed that one the day McGahn didn't show and it's only gotten worse since..

Hey that would be like criticizing Mousalinni after he got the trains to run on time. Or being critical because Hitler took a little over a month to tie down Poland.

I think most people will tolerate a certain level of corruption (not ww2 fascist levels) out of a president who is doing things they like. Really the question is just how much.

    Libs...whining....about the same things....4th year running....refusing to accept...no one gives a flying f&ck. jeez

what a bunch of bores and losers. 4 years and they still can't get it through their heads that the only people who care are Trump haters like them who won't vote for him anyway. Normal voters pay attention to peace and prosperity, not their pathetic smears.

Doing what they did in 2016 and expecting a different result. Einstein must be turning in his grave lol

I am not a Trump supporter. I did not vote for Trump and I am not a fan. This tax return issue is an abuse of power.

Further, you are not qualified to tell me what I care or don't care about. If you have something solid on Trump abusing his power for personal gain, start a thread and invite me.

How is it abuse of power? You think the body in charge of IRS oversight and writing tax laws shouldn’t be able to see anyone’s taxes?

Nothing gets by you. Maybe after all meetings with lobbyists are streamed live.

Why would we do that? If a presidents conflicts of interest don’t matter why would meetings with lobbyists?

Trump supporter logic: If Trump stonewalls long enough, then complaining about it is simply "whining about the same things."

Either something illegal or that he is ashamed of, cause imo he would be using them to brag with if they showed him making lots of money

Nowhere in this thread do I comment on the legal legitimacy of the various requests for Trump's returns. I'm only pointing out how far he's going to prevent their release. He lied when he said he would release them, and he is going to great lengths to keep them secret.

Any normal person would conclude he has something to hide. Criminality? Or merely embarassment? I don't know.

But that's why we ask candidates to release their returns. And it's why refusing to do so should be a red flag and automatic disqualifier. Because we don't know whether Trump is working for the interest of himself, this country, or some OTHER country.

It's Trump's absolutely undeniable and unquestionable legal right to NOT disclose his personal tax returns. Not that the fascist totalitarian left cares about the Constitution, laws or individual rights.

It's therefore up to voters to decide whether to vote for Trump in 2020 and not a single voter will make this decision based on this obsession of whiny leftist clowns who clearly learned absolutely nothing in 2016.

People will decide based on unprecedented economic strength, prosperity and peace... so do continue this "but but tax returns" incessant and desperate bleating.

I have... Congress has full legal right to them... ZERO questions asked... "shall furnish"

The other requests? I'm not sure...

You know what's interesting, even if this rogue clown gets Trump's tax returns, which IS a huge if, he is legally obligated to not disclose it.

But hey, now that the Mueller hoax has collapsed and backfired, the desperate left needs a straw to grasp at. We get it lol
