I agree, but Trump went about it in the wrong way.

Trump never should have impulsively agreed to meet with Kim based solely on the comments of a South Korean envoy. He accepted Kim's invitation without consulting his state department, defense department, intell agencies, and National Security Council. Since a one-on-one meeting with the American President has been the goal of the Kim regime for 65 years, Trump wants to hand Kim a diplomatic victory on a silver platter.

How should have the Trump administration have handled North Korea? If it is possible, as the administration is saying, that the harsh sanctions have forced Kim to the negotiating table, then the hard work should have been handled by diplomats from state and defense aided by the CIA and other intelligence sources. This would be a long process, no doubt months. It would also be laborious and boring. However, once agreements are reached, Trump rides in on his white horse, sits down with a compliant and impotent Kim and they sign the necessary papers. Trump comes home to a ticker tape parade on Wall Street and is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. That is how it should have been handled.

But Trump is a showman. He is the star. He will not share the limelight with others in the administration. Moreover, he is not built for long, drawn out, tough negotiations, especially when he is not involved. Being a showman, he not only must be the star, he must create exciting drama with him at the center of the activity, controversy, whatever. He doesn't care as long as complete media focus is on him.

He still sees himself as the host of a reality show. He is not a President. He is a master of ceremonies.

With the exception of his new loudmouth lawyer, have you noticed the silence of everyone else in his administration? With respect to the JCPOA and the Kim summit, SecDef James Mattis should be front and center. We have not heard from in months. Since returning from North Korea, even Trump's sycophant SecState, Mike Pompeo, has been silent. We have no idea what he thinks of Trump's begging yesterday.

He is not only a showman, he is a business man too, with some failure yes, but globally a successfull business man.

Right now, he had a success with North Korea, a success he isn't the only worked with but still a success.

From my point of view, Trump seems to be a much more peacefull president than Obama or Bush, it's good news.

And, yet, you think I am delusional. I saw the video of the gas attack (WMD) on "wingnut" TV, not the radio. Radio has a hard time with video in case you are lagging behind.

Also. you don't usually throw centrifuges at your enemies - once again in case the technology eludes you - you use them to concentrate Uranium isotope 235 in order to build nuclear weapons which are considered to be a class of WMD. Saddam had WMD's, used them, and was working on getting more. If you would explore the World beyond Rachel Maddow, you might pick up on these things. As it is, you are a perfect example of Left-wing RIF (Reduction In Facts).

No. I just think you're gullible.

Radio, TV, magazine, blog, robo-call.... Wingnut is wingnut. Read my message again. Especially the part about "1991" Or, better yet, research on your own about how Wingnut TV so often tries to pass really old pictures and footage as if it were much more recent than it really is. A word of caution, though: your research, if done properly, might undermine your blind faith on wingnut media.

Really? Not even the "foundations"? They don't have a "foundations cannon" or something? That's not how it works? How shocking!

Your humor about centrifuges is interesting. It's like 1+1 does not equal 2. Total brainwashed denial.

Why is it that you believe that Saddam was the only dictator in the history of humanity that did not visit horror and death on his own people? Was it because he was confronted by a Republican President?

Saddam was the only dictator that did not do what? You are mumbling. Speak clearly! I don't know what you're saying but, Saddam was brutal with his own people, and slaughtered them without mercy. But he had no WMDs when we invaded. And that's what this discussion was about. If you are trying to change the subject, you are doing it in a pathetic way.

My, my aren't you the polite one. It is difficult to mumble when typing. If English is difficult for you, say so and we will try to use shorter words. Oh, my, we didn't FIND WMD's when we invaded. Moving the chemical weapons out of the country, destroying what they had left, or having used them up is not possible in your world? Chemical weapons are the easiest to make and easy to destroy. Everyone has them. Hell, you can make chlorine gas by mixing bleach and ammonia if I remember correctly. And you think a vicious dictator trying to wipe out a faction of his own people wouldn't stoop to that? Congratulations, you have managed to swerve successfully through the minefield of facts and common sense by only listening to people that have an axe to grind.

LOL. What is the point of having a weapon and then destroying or moving it out of reach at the one time you will need it!

Ah, because that particular weapon has been banned by civilized nations and the people that are sweeping across your border are equipped to handle it and looking to put a rope around the neck of anyone using it. Duh!
