It is not that i want homosexuals deprived of anything, but it seems wrong that we need base our refusal on religious grounds. Seems we have a right to sell cakes to those we want to.

Take the KKK. Some walk in and wish a KKK cake with blacks hung using nooses. Why can't we deny them a cake?

 

Because it is obnoxious to tell people whom they must provide service to, it is limited to "protected classes" -- classes of people that have historically faced significant discrimination.

That's a GOOD thing. It means there are only a few things you can't use as a basis for discrimination.

Your complaint boils down to "I don't like that sexual orientation is now a protected class." Fine, but you cannot seriously argue that LGBT folks have NOT faced significant discrimination over the years (and still today). They certainly fit the criteria for inclusion.

Also, just because you have to provide service, doesn't mean you have to accede to a customer's every demand. So you can tell the KKK guy, "Sure, you can have a cake, but not one with that design."

 

lol. The government doesn't own the means of production. Until that takes place, programs are commonwealth laws. They were around long before socialism.

You're one of those people who has convinced themselves that socialism is synonymous with giving. So if someone does something for someone, that is socialism. Seriously.

One could argue the power of the federal reserve dictates a central planning label, but at the end of the day, it's all a bunch of private bank houses in control of it. You have nothing.

Not entirely correct as America was founded upon an amalgam of Christian and Age of Reason thinkers such as Jefferson and Franklin. Out forefathers understood the dangers of a mono theocracy as our earliest settlers were those fleeing religious persecution.

There is no "was"about it, America is still a majority Christian Nation. But just because we have a declining Christian majority does not imply that we are a Christian Nation.

America is fundamentally a place where the minority is protected from the majority... one of the things I love most about America! Not saying that this has always been the case in practice, but we are more free now then we were during the time of slavery, segregation and women not being allowed to vote.

If one believes in freedom then America is a good place to be, if one wants to force their theistic beliefs upon others, then America is not a good place to live as none of us have the authority to force others to live up to our Biblical standards outside of Church and home.

Frankly, if homosexuals are protected, racists need protection too. Were a homosexual to want a professional cake baked just for them, were I of a mind to, I would tell them no thanks and point to the bakery willing to sell them the cake.

There is currently a cake issue being handled at the appeals level in Oregon.

I paid into SS for 13 years, became disabled and have been on SSD for nearly 20 years, useing up what I paid into the system long ago thus I am living off the toil of others, ergo the socialist aspect of SS.

I have, myself, collected far above the sums I paid in, and were I the modern Al Capone, I would defend it. But not being a Modern mafia, I think it is wrong.

It is the law so I suck it up and keep collecting.

 

What is ironic is that today a black client called me and between myself and Louise, here in my office, we tried to help him.

His problem is by law he could have little say who he rents to. So he rented to a black. Actually since he purchased the very nice Condominium, he never rented to whites. And every black he rented it to, caused him a lot of grief.

He is stuck since where it is, it morphed from a white area to a black area.

He has for the past 7 years tried to collect rent. He has been ultra sympathetic since she is black.

A book can be written to cover all of her excuses. Though he will be sitting in arbitration around May 9, she has no money and no prospects of a landlord willing to accept her based on bad credit.

See, credit can stop her. Race, nope.

I have to check to find when I sold him this condominium. I am thinking it was prior to 1993.

He has that tenant from hell problem.

 

Two anybodies having sex in a restaurant would be grounds for being kicked out. And possibly arrested.

 

That makes no logical sense.

 

I'm not sure how that has anything to do with what I wrote.

 

A closer look at that bit of nostalgia would make almost any sane person turn away from such nonsense

You can sell to whomever you want. You would get no government interference if you didn't provide that KKK cake. Same if you were a Muslim shop or a Jewish deli and refused to sell pork sandwiches to anybody.

 

It pales to an anthill to the Alps of black discrimination.
How about the discrimination against smokers? We are far more discriminated against than gays and LBGTQ folks.
