Do the Kavanaugh supporters here admit that it's very likely Kavanaugh is/was a heavy drinker and lied about it? Does that give any of you pause to think maybe there's a better candidate for SCOTUS than this guy?

Maybe not Feinsten, but maybe someone on her staff. Politics is a brutal sport and Ford's allegations were likely just too good not to leak. Of course there remains the possibility someone outside of Congress leaked it for that same reason.

Im a supporter of the republicans right to choose because they won the election. I mean he said he likes beer an awful lot so thats a picture to easily paint. Another poster said they should have nominated a woman and in hindsight that seems like a good idea.... Whats the womens name amy barrett?

Yes, it will be interesting when they ask Ford what she has to say since her friend states under penalty of perjury that She and you Ms Ford have never attended a party or gathering with Mr Kavanaugh being present. EVER!

Then they can ask her why she would leave her best friend and not stop at a house and get an adult or call the police. If this boy tried to rape you. Why would you just leave her there with that boy and his two 3 friends.

They'll always have something to be hyper critical of i mean its a good move to appease independents and i like the 1 wk and no other accusers that was a brilliant compromise

He said a bit more than that, at least in his yearbook. And people around him have chimed in on his drinking.

How so? You heard Feinstein herself say only she and Ford's Congresswoman had the letter, and that she and her people didn't leak it.

Yet, nothing came out until after the letter was sent.

    ;)

Ana Maria Archila, one of the women who confronted Jeff Flake on the elevator at the Capitol after he said he was voting for Brett Kavanaugh, is the co-executive director for the Center for Popular Democracy and the Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund. The Center For Popular Democracy is heavily funded by George Soros.

Don't you want to make sure that someone you appoint for a lifetime position on the Supreme Court is on the level? That requires extensive background checks, and one of the red flags we've seen is his yearbook and people close to him talking about what a drunk he was.

Maybe what we should be investigating is the FBI's effectiveness in doing background checks considering Kavanaugh has had more then a few during his career.

I must have missed that but you know there is the agrument that a. Drinking isn't illegal, alot of people drank as highschool kids and wouldn't the fbi know if he was a drunk b. Even if you prove he drank as a kid that in no way proves without a doubt he assaulted her and drinking doesn't not 100% correlate to sexual crimes. Having said all that i doubt we come to any conclusion on the allegation and i think it would have been wiser of Republicans to have nominated a women that way the Democrats would have had to demonize a female nominee

Yeah, they seemed to have dropped the ball on this one. Or maybe background checks on judges are a routine matter, and they don't probe too deeply. He's a judge, not a spy.

As a functional alcoholic, the drinking doesn't bother me. What bothers me is lying about your drinking, when asked under oath, and drinking to the point of blacking out. Surely we can find someone qualified who doesn't do those things?

I would say he's probably misrepresenting the amount of alcohol he drank as a kid and the blacking out how would you prove whether he does or doesn't black out. Im of the mindset Republicans won so they choose and if they got the numbers there's nothing to be done, impeachment is so improbable it takes 2/3 vote. On a personal level i dont really care what his personal life is as long as hes not a criminal and he makes judgements based on the rule of law

No...We are talking about his teen years....You show me a teen in the early to mid 80s that didn't enjoy beer, and I'd tell you that you're crazy, or they're lying....But, "heavy drinker" He says he wasn't....Do you have anything concrete to show that he was, or are we going to say from here on in that ANY accusation is good enough when it comes to him?

Where did he say that he'd ever drank to the point of blacking out?
