Unintended Consequences: The Plight of Black Women

One of the consequences of racial integration that was unforseen is that many black women now have a poor self image and race-identity probleme.

Black women are not only the most unmarried group in American society but also the one that least intermarries with other races. The collapse of marriage among blacks is well documented, but not the sexual, psychological, social, and emotional toll this has taken on black women. Seven out of ten black women are single, while most of the few that do have access to a black man are forced into “man-sharing”. This crisis in the black relationship market arises from a “man-shortage”. Of course it does not help that so many black males are locked up. 1 out of every 8 black males in their 20’s in jail, while one in ten black men in their early 30’s are in prison. But this is not even the main cause of the problem.

The real problem is the behavior of most black men. They often stay unmarried for the opposite reason: they have too many options. As one black man explained: “If you have four quality women you’re dating and they’re in a rotation, who’s going to rush into marriage?” Even black men who nominally commit to one woman are five times as likely as their white counterparts to have others on the side.

One way or another, black women thus become single and lonely. One upwardly mobile black woman explained: “We focus on are careers, our friends, go back to school, whatever. We fill our lives with other things. But in hundreds of interviews that one sociology professor conducted, he found pervasive sadness amongst the black females. (“Is Marriage for White People? The main cause of the trouble is interracial relationships. Black men are statistically prone to enter into relationships with women of other races. More than one in five black men marries outside of their race. But fewer than one in ten black women intermarries. Black women tend to find non-black men unattractive, and less sexually appealing. In their colloquial terminology, men of other races lack “swag”. Many black women are also concerned that their children would not be “black enough”. One black women, when asked about marrying outside her race, explained her thoughts, which are typical: “My black heart… I would need to turn it in.” Another women added, “We know it’s a struggle, but we women got to stand by the black man. If we don’t, who will?”

But the bigger problem is that men of other races statistically find black women unattractive. A number of possible reasons for this phenomena have been suggested.

Black women are on average much heavier than nonblack women. The mean body-mass index (BMI) at Wave III is 28.5 among black women and 26.1 among nonblack women. (Black and nonblack men do not differ in BMI: 27.0 vs. 26.9) People of African ancestry on average have higher levels of testosterone than other races, and testosterone, being an androgen (male hormone), affects the physical attractiveness of men and women differently. Men with higher levels of testosterone have more masculine features and are therefore more physically attractive. In contrast, women with higher levels of testosterone also have more masculine features and are therefore less physically attractive. The race difference in the level of testosterone can therefore potentially explain why black women are less physically attractive than women of other races, while black men are statistically more sexually appealing than men of other races. Black women also tend to be much more dominating and independent than women of other races. One black woman explained: “Many men are intimidated by those of us who can basically think for ourselves.” Another possible explanation is that black women are much more likely to be single mothers, thus putting off potential partners.

The other problem is that when white males take Asian women, there are not enough white males for the white females, many of whom have to either take a black man or be alone. Again, what ends up happening to the black females and asian males, who are perceived as less desirable in american society?

Its no wonder black guys try to get WHITE women..i mean really would you go anywhere near a black women..God I know i wouldn't.

 

I am very skeptical towards the testoterone claim because there is insufficient evidence on significant interracial difference on that. Many West African, ("black American") facial features are also prominenet in tropical South East Asia. It is largely, as many speculate, as a result of having ancestry in a tropical region rather than due to "masculine feature due to testoterone level". Thats perhaps why Austrlian Aborginals are sometimes called "blacks" for their facial appearance despite having no recent relationship with West Africans.

You mean skin pigmentation? A lot of blacks in America don't physically look dark. It became more of a cultural heritage issue.

Black men have been disenfranchised for a few generations resulting in a few generations of black males growing up without strong paternal influences.

This is seen in the strong mysogynist tone of their music and street culture.

Black women for their part in the empowerment movement have treated decent black men to their attitude, aggression and disdain.

Now they want to complain about their men moving to a group of women who treat them better?

I would laugh if it wasn't so sad.

 

Black "men" have been making their OWN choices to sell drugs, gangbang, shoot each other and whites, rape, beat and not work. To blame that on ANYTHING but their OWN actions and OWN choices is laughable at best.

 

Dependency implies black? So Germans are white and Greeks are black, judging from the European debt crisis?

Red is a distinct color from yellow. The fact that the color orange also exists in no way negates the fact that red and yellow both exist as separate colors. Yes, there is no clear line separating yellow from orange, but this obviously does not mean the color red is just a variation of yellow. Yet this is the type of flawed argument some use to try to deny the existence of race. Yes, white people came out of Africa 40,000 years ago. Humans are also distantly related to cows. Perhaps by this logic eating hamburgers is cannibalism!

 

The point is that crime isn't an exclusive trait of black people.

As for this thread; The same could be said of Asian men. They have similar problems due to racial stereotypes, and the high out-marriage rates of Asian women.

None of it really matters. You're not going to reverse integration. Its pretty much part of the constitution due to Brown vs Board.

Is it an unintended of liberal policies that tell black women that the government can support them and their baby but only if there is no man around?

Years ago I was watching an interview program where the host was interviewing couples where the husband was an American who went to a foreign country for a wife. A woman in the audience stood up and screeched, "We need a law making it illegal for American men to marry foreigners until every single American woman who wants a husband has one." And people wonder why anyone would go overseas. A friend of mine who was born in China went to Vancouver, which has the largest Chinatown in the hemisphere, to find a Chinese bride. When I asked why he didn't marry an American woman he asked me if I was crazy.

But, I'd like to know what policy or condition has caused the "unintended" consequence?

The policy that has caused the problem was the increasing social tolerance of marrying outside ones race, and children actually being educated in school that race does not exist. In some cases, educators actually promoted white children to make friends and romantic interests "regardless of the persons skin color". On the other side, it has been increasingly acceptable for men to marry asian women, leaving many overweight white women with few options other than a black man. The increasing availability of asian brides has not helped the situation. Some men choose asians merely because they are seen as "subservient" and "lower maintenance".

The other part of the problem is that black ghetto women have a poor sense of fashion.

 

This entire post and most all others at this forum concentrate on all the racial problems created by black people. My goodness, blacks make up about 12-13% of our population yet all we hear about is their high rate of crime, the sad state of affairs of their women, the fact that black men in their 20's have either flown the family coop, beat their wives, get caught dealing and using illegal drugs, scam the welfare system, and or are lifelong felons.

Why is it that WHITES making up the majority of our population don't seem to have nearly as many problems with their race as do the blacks? Why is it that other minorities living in the the U.S. of A. such as the Orientals seem to assimilate into the American lifestyle rather nicely without resorting to or relying on an entitlement or a criminal mentality to succeed in life?

We finally got our first black president and look at the complete embarrassing failure that guy has been. Lets face it folks....integration and or assimilation for blacks into the American society and culture is never going to happen without us facing the dire consequences of their presence here.
