Think so? Maybe. Those operators handle a steady flow of calls from restaurants all over the world. They get a lot more done that the high school drop out waiting a half hour between cars. That greater productivity makes them more valuable. I don't know what they make, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out they're paid better than the dozens of "you want fries with that" guys they replace.

Phillipeans just beat India in call center employees. 300,000 to 350,000 in each of their countries.
    News story I found.

I believe McDonalds pays more. I remember making about 15,000 when I worked for McDonalds. How can an American compete when he can't live on 4300 a year in income?

    Doesn't look like it:

"The positions pay the equivalent of around $4,300 U.S. per year, according to the Business Processing Association of the Philippines, which represents the outsourcing industry, an attractive salary in a country where the average family income is just a little higher than that. By comparison, call-center jobs in the U.S. — when they can be found — may pay $16,000 to $22,000 a year."

Ever lived in PI? $4,300 over there there is like $40,000 here. That call center guy is making way more than you. As for how an American can compete... same way anyone can: do something more valuable. People manning the register in McDonalds haven't done anything significantly different in almost 50 years while lifestyles in the U.S. and cost of living have risen significantly. The guy making $15,000 a year to ask "want fries with that" is overpaid. If he wants to earn his keep, he should find new ways to contribute.

How? With what money? If he can't afford to live how is he supposed to afford to better himself?

A shame he let himself get into that situation. But what makes you think someone else should answer it for him?

So in your opinion he should starve and die because he's worthless to society.

One of the plethora of ills from globalism. With nationalism, countries in competition, one must always factor in large wars. With large scale wars, everyone in your nation has value, regardless of their skill set in peace time. Under globalism, why not betray your nation and look at your neighbors as meat?

I think uneducated Obama voters should do manual labor instead of paying them to do nothing and letting illegal aliens do the work instead.

End welfare for able-bodied people and force them to take jobs they don't want.

Perhaps missing a couple of meals would be just the motivation he needs to find a way to make himself worth more pay.

Vince Lombardi ( a guy who knew a thing or two about human performance) said the motivation is everything.

If the "worthless guy" got motivated, he'd find some way to be worth something. It is his responsibility to get motivated and make something of himself. By offering him an opportunity for primary and secondary education at public expense the government has discharged its obligation to him.

What he does with his public education is up to him, and him only.

In Vince Lombardi's days a secondary education was worth a post graduate education now. Food for thought.

Why do so many liberals believe that everyone is just a criminal at heart?

Because so many liberals are just a criminal at heart. It's just an easy transition for those with a 'something for nothing' philosophy.

I'm not a liberal. I'm a conservative who has to work for a living and pay my family's bills. I worry about paying the rent in a job an illegal alien could do for next to nothing.
