This is the Islamic version of religious wars. They're some 400 years behind Europe.

ISIS and the Taliban are full of former moderate innocent Muslims. More moderate innocent Muslims are going to become terrorists who murder other moderate innocent Muslims. The cycle of radicalization and violence will continue until Islam is fully reformed.
