This time over N.Korea with bombers. But US media have a habit of calling it N.Korea sabre rattling. Maybe we should ask ourselves i the US would tolerate that sort of provocation over it's airspace.

And of course, along with it goes the as always demonization of the victim country's leader. They're always insane when the US threatens them! Some of us wonder why?

Comments in defence of the US?

Comments of any others who aren't blindfolded to the facts?

Could it escalate into something more hot. Not likely because N.Korea has the great deterrant to US aggression. Not to mention that they have really tough friends.

How about a source for your implicit assumption that the bombers were over North Korea and not South Korea?

'Comments of any others who aren't blindfolded to the facts?'

What, you don't want anyone who doesn't share your ideology and world view interrupting your circle-jerk?

A fanatical army of leg infantry. Nowhere near enough transport to move them and no fuel even if they did have the transport. The north Korean military is designed to do one thing and one thing only; destroy Seoul by long range artillery fire. Once that's done, it's pretty much useless for anything else. The original (north) Korean War only lasted four months, really only three because after Inchon the Norks were in complete disarray. After that it was the UN-China war. Will China intervene again? They voted for the last round of sanctions.

Not in a straight ground were. Their army is very well trained. They also have a very good air defense system. So bombing would be less effective as well. The only way we would defeat them is by nuking them, and that is out of the question because of the danger to the region (China would not be happy with us nuking a bordering nation, and we can not afford to anger a nation that holds up out economy).

I love that Europeans pick on Americans and secretly enjoy we take the brunt of the world's gruff and do their military spending for them. Maybe Europe should keep our collective allies safe from now on and we get back to dominating the economy. I am sure if Russia declared war on West Germany or France a few decades ago with nuclear missiles in region you would want us reminding them they have US soldiers to deal with. It is the same with South Koreans. When are the Europeans going to do their part to stand with free people? Are you not allied with South Korea? You guys have more cash then us these days...

    Says who?

No, they don't. Every weapons system they field dates from the 70's or earlier.

No. Their army is under equipped, fed, and untrained, fanatical, maybe, until you offer them something more. Like a better life.

I assume you know how well equipped the US army is, or at least, how (*)(*)(*)(*)ing awesome it is. Wy would we use nukes? Sounds stupid.

Considering we took out the Iraq army in less than a month ten years ago, NK would be cake

Just one problem, Korea isn't Viet Nam. No jungle, lots of mountains. The whole peninsula is basically a mountain range sticking out into the ocean. If you want to get anywhere in less than forever you move along the coastal plains. This is just as true for bicycles as tanks.

Not really, well not in recent times at least. The US brought overwhelming force multipliers into the field in both Iraq engagements and Afghanistan. The only reason the Taliban exist today is because the US politically took it's foot off their throat

There army is very well trained for a 1914 style war. We won't play that game and I think you severely overestimate the average grunt's loyalty to his NK overseers. We will simply do a decapitation removing the leadership from contact with their troops. And when US SMIII's and patriot batteries eliminate most of the NK Missiles shortly after take off, it's game set match. US counter battery fire will eliminate most NK artillery shortly after the ball goes up and mass surrenders should commence shortly thereafter.

That of course assumes that one is daft enough to believe that the mission in question was something other than the Defeat of Saddam Husseins army. That was an Accomplished fact by the time of the statement.

I think the average North Korean would welcome a bit of bombing if it got rid of the loonies running the joint. Heck they've got not much to lose. Unlike Saddam's Iraq where the Baathists were brutal but provided pretty well for the average Iraqi, the North Korean regime is completely bonkers, brutal, savage and peopled with nutters who deserve to be dropped in the sea from a great height. North Korea could then welcome South Korea and unification would bring some great benefits to the North. Don't forget that South Korea eventually became a liberal democracy after years of authoritarian rule, I reckon the average South Korean would be happy to see liberal democracy come to their Northern kin.
