The Drone War is expanding as al Qaeda surges across much of Africa. US troops have arrived in Niger in an expansion of the president's Drone War. The Drone War is the way the American left tries to fight conflicts overseas. Here's the story:

"President Obama announced Friday that about 100 U.S. troops have been deployed to the West African country of Niger, where defense officials said they are setting up a drone base to spy on al-Qaeda fighters in the Sahara.

It was the latest step by the Pentagon to increase its intelligence-gathering across Africa in response to what officials see as a rising threat from militant groups...

In response to the proliferation of extremist groups, the Pentagon has greatly expanded its base network for drones and other surveillance aircraft across Africa.

...In a letter to Congress, Obama said about 40 U.S. service members arrived in Niger on Wednesday, bringing the total number of troops based there to “approximately” 100. He said the troops, which are armed for self-protection, would support a French-led military operation in neighboring Mali, where al-Qaeda fighters and other militants have carved out a refuge in a remote territory the size of Texas.

The base in Niger marks the opening of another far-flung U.S. military front against al-Qaeda and its affiliates, adding to drone combat missions in Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia. The CIA is also conducting drone airstrikes against al-Qaeda targets in Pakistan and Yemen..."

Very good, build as many as possible to cover the entire world,

So far its just scouts and bombers, the new air fighters will be small fast cheap and deadly, the warfare of the future :)

Sub-saharan Africa is a prime candidate for drone warfare. Lots of open space, little cover and long distances between settlements means that movements of armed jihadis should be easy to spot and easy to interdict in places where civilian casualties can be minimized or even kept to zero. Good for Obama!

What America does now will reverberate through time. The final results of the Drone War will be visited upon New York City and Washington, DC.

The one positive thing to come out of the Drone War is proof positive that the anti-war left is totally amoral and hypocritical. They lack the courage to even address this subject.

OMG it goes on and on..

If they keep this up they're going to wind up having more bases than soldiers.

How many soldiers do they have guarding all these bases.. Like three?

Do you know they've gotta be actually building skynet. They're making robots now that can coordinate amongst each other on a task. That task might be invasion of some country.. A bunch of civilians slaughtered by robotroops and helped out by robodrone planes of course.

Hopefully this time they won't be so stupid and attach control of nuclear weapons into an automated defense grid.

That's quite reassuring, thank you very much!

I hope it's a lot more than 100 for guarding the aliens in area 51 at least.

If slaugther is what gov are after than they wouldnt spend billions on weapons that can pin point a single target..., they would make bigger bombs at 1/1000 the expense and get to kill more.

I see nothing wrong in sending bots to eliminate one or two trouble makers instead of a bomb that would kill the neighbors too, or even the brain washed followers for that matter.

I don't know what you're banging on about. I don't actually care either, but I suppose you feel compelled to tell us.

He who lives by the bot.................

Right, the Palestinians are going to build them out of spare bits from old cars and such.

Right, the Palestinians are going to build them out of spare bits from old cars and such. The Iranian ones built from old Chinese DVD players should be a bit more effective.

You gave me 10 years, the anti zionist bot will not be ready by then, it was a fair question I think.

That's the idea, eventually bots will replace ppl in wars (I hope).

    Hmmm.

I am of the thought that the constant criticism of the use of drones to find and eliminate Al Qaeda is nothing more than hyper partisan reflexive outrage.

Personally, I have no problem putting a missile up the ass of any terrorist planning on doing harm to Americans here or abroad. So what exactly is the issue here? That the president has been relatively effective in killing terrorists?

We will regret pioneering the use of drones.
