There are more than two options for what to call a country.

The USA bullies Google to hand over personal data.

You don't know human nature, no one does; don't pretend like you do.

    It's not by any definition.

Haha. The Russians still produce higher quality military hardware than the Chinese.

Except for the past 5000 years of history.

They're growing so fast because they were so far behind. They have the largest military in the world yet spend only a fraction of what the U.S. does. It's only natural they increase defense spending as their economy increases.

Its helps that they pay their soldiers like indentured servants and give them sub-par training. That really keeps costs low.

You don't think Chinese share the basic human desire for freedom?

China's infantry, like any other nation's, is a social program meant to give a job and some food to someone who would find it difficult to do so otherwise.

    It's population control.

There is no basic human desire for freedom; you can't prove human nature.

All those costs are increasing though. As wages and standard of living in China increases they'll have to start shelling out more.

China's actually been cutting infantry numbers to counter that.

Actually individualism and rebellion from authority are the foundation of human nature.

It doesn't always have an outlet for expression and the Chinese are a good example of that.

But given the right conditions the Chinese are just like anyone else.

Let me make an analogy. The Chinese remind me of Big Cats. Big Cats don't see color. They see the world in black, white and gray. Big Cats aren't aware they are color blind and they consequently don't care about color.

The same can be said for the Chinese and individual liberty. Their outlook is Confucian in many ways and Communist in some others. Collectivism has been the order of the day since anyone can remember.

In no case is individualism emphasized. There is nothing in Chinese history or culture that would impell Chinese on a mass basis to seek political freedom. In fact, Chinese history says that individualism leads to chaos. Taoism is as close to individualism as anyone gets in China.

Prove human nature. Prove that people are born as such. You can't. No one can.

They still pay them a tiny fraction of what we pay our soldiers.

A stong America and a strong Republican President would still not put Taiwan in a good position; the only that could come from it would the deaths of millions of soldiers and civilians on both sides.

As contrary evidence I move to introduce the J-20 stealth aircraft being tested by the Chinese. It's existence at this moment in history is a game changer. How did the Chinese develop stealth aircraft?

    Oh get lost.

I give you my opinion and you give us yours.

If you want to fund a study on that subject I'll get back to you with the results in a couple of years.

    Otherwise spare us the histrionics.

So you made a blanket comment about all human beings and are now straying away from it. Okay.

The Chinese are very predictable. Past as prologue.

Our junior enlisted are not paid a living wage, yet they make more money in a month than most Chinese soldiers do in a year.

Sorry, I just don't know of any studies that prove Chinese people are really no different than other races.

But I do think it is true.

You have just learned a lesson about the Chinese. They are relentless and unremitting in the pursuit of their goals.

That's about on par with minimum wage.
