Venezuela Can Bring Putin to his Knees. Why America should lift the embargo.

Investigative reporter Greg Palast has some insights into how sanctions against Putin are enriching him, personally as Putin has a kleptocracy in Russia. I cannot find fault with his reasoning.

It’s about the oil, Mr. Biden. The price of oil. The more Ukrainians Putin kills, the higher the price of oil.

Right now, Russian tanks have pushed the price of oil past $100 a barrel. That’s a windfall worth an additional half a billion dollars a day to Russia’s treasury. With 43% of Russia’s entire federal budget coming from oil and gas royalties, Putin doesn’t care if his oligarchs are barred from getting tickets to see Hamilton.

The doubling of energy prices over the next year would bring Putin a quarter trillion dollar windfall.

Want to stop Putin‘s tanks? Turn off his war windfall.

How? Unleash the largest reserve of oil on the planet: Lift the cruel, crazy, unjustified embargo of Venezuela.

Venezuela is capable of pumping 2 million barrels of oil a day for export. If Biden announces an end to the embargo, the price of oil will nosedive in 20 minutes. However, the US and Europe have laid siege to Venezuela, stopping everything from food to supplies of parts to get its oil industry back up and running.

Stop choking Venezuela’s economy and starving the Venezuelan people, who are no enemies of America, who invaded no one, and the price of oil will collapse.

The Biden administration continues to prosecute Donald Trump‘s mad embargo of Venezuela. The embargo was triggered by Venezuela‘s insistence on taking back control of its oil industry—and, Heaven forbid, taxing Exxon.

The excuse I hear from Republicans and Democrats alike is that Venezuela is not a democratic state. As opposed to Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Qatar and Russia? It’s fascinating to me that European Union blockades oil from Venezuela but continues to take oil from Russia.

We are paying the price of Trump‘s policy, now Biden’s, at the pump and Ukrainians are paying in Odessa.

 

high oil prices are also in the interests of american capitalists, so i do not anticipate congress rushing to lift these sanctions on venezuela.

and while we are at it, is there any possible reason to continue sanctions against cuba?

 

Since the green goal is to reduce oil consumption, switching to a different supplier does not change that. Rather than getting it from Venezuela, why don't we encourage oil drilling in the US? That way we do not have to depend on countries we do not like or trust.

 

Because leftists think we’re destroying the planet. Nothing changes if we drill or everyone else drills. We still need the oil. Absolutely NOTHING can replace this resource. Not wind. Not solar. Germany is getting a nice taste of it. EVs are still way too expensive. Solar roofs are still way too expensive. Then again, the Leftists in charge can afford it all easily and will be dead by the time any of it is affordable enough. And the minerals to produce enough batteries in the hypothetical scenario we can get off oil, are less plentiful than the oil we have now. So Leftists think hey, make more people poor so they have to vote Democrat to be taken care of. It’s been the strategy all along. No one is fooled.

 

Venezuela is one of the few country who voted on the side of Russia... I say, no to lifting the embargo.

The U.S. is expected to announce as early as Tuesday that it will ban imports of Russian oil, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC.

The White House and the Department of Energy did not immediately respond to requests for comment. But the White House on Tuesday morning updated President Joe Biden’s schedule for the day to include an announcement of new U.S. actions intended to “hold Russia accountable for its unprovoked and unjustified war on Ukraine.”

 

Hmm.. Maduro, that crazy thug.. Democrats seem to want us involved with all the worst folks.... Why is that again? But, when your only friends are fellow socialists....

 

Democrats like the idea that we are energy insecure. At the same time, buying oil from their socialist allies is the payola they promised to them.... like Putin.

 

NBC lies. All the time. They aren't credible. Soon as today.... What, did Brandon just realize that he's been financing the Ukrainian war for his buddy Putin, or did NBC finally figure out that the story was already out there, and it couldn't stop the story by ignoring it anymore?

Either way, The US is still paying Putin to invade the Ukraine, until we don't. And replacing the inflow by buying from Venezuela just further pays for the atrocities Maduro commits.

 

America can bring Russia to its knees by using our own plentiful natural resources.

 

The main one would be that it is illogical to contribute to the well being of an enemy nation. We need to sanction China as well. But high oil prices are only in the interest of oil companies. The rest of the american capitalists hate them.
