I've already pointed out in this thread that the idea of not being about to criticize people close or related to elected officials is an idea I do not share as a free speech advocate. Considering this, I do not agree with the original poster of the thread.

Liberals attacked Bush's family. Conservatives attacked Obama's family. Just as I said, if you think this began with Trump, you're delusional.

Trump has done nothing revolutionary; he was just simply more effective at it than anyone on your side.

Also, I think you might have misconstrued the idea of Political Correctness. It isn't the idea of disliking criticism; no likes to be criticized. It understanding that there should be limits when it comes to freedom of expression in political discourse, entertainment, writings, etc. Generally, there are things which are acceptable for people to say and there are things that are unacceptable for people to say.

After 8 years of trashing George W Bush, 0bama had it coming and every stupid birther claim and racist remark was perfectly justified because of that. Blah blah blah.

 

Because there is this unwritten rule of politics that family members should be off-limits; I don't agree with that. There is also the issue with Barron being only ten years old. For that reason, I can sort of see why people would take issue with what happened.

I don't disagree that mature people do not make fun of others; however, we already live in a culture which deems this behavior acceptable. We do it entertainment purposes; we call people retarded or not understanding something; people have made no qualms about insulting others about others who are not able-bodied. However, the only coherent defense I've heard about that is, but Trump.

Also, there were people who made fun of Sarah Palin's son (Trig Palin), who has down syndrome. Again, Trump has not revolutionized anything; he was just better at it than your side. If you want to claim some moral high ground, that is fine, but you do so at the risk of your own credibility.

I don't understand how one can put kids in a situation like that. According to some reports I just read, Barron didn't have any sleep for something like 24 hrs at some point. In this state of fatigue and at ten, I would have been a calamity myself. Can't the People of the USA understand the "presidential kid" would be more comfortable in a more appropriate environment for a kid that age?

I also read that he is forced to wear a suit 'n' tie everyday, like if he had to ready for his big break at any second now. Djeezus Cryst! Poor kids are likely happier.

Like for Melania's case, I have the feeling Barron lives under the heavy, all-encompassing shadow of Trump, resulting in a lack of confidence in his self. I just wish people cut him some slack - and that he, as opposed to his father, pays income taxes when he gets older.

 

We get upset about what Trump says, and you all cling to the words of Rosie O'Donnell. Therein lies the difference between Trumpers and sanity.

As of now TrumpCo has been on vacation for 75% of his presidency. All that money spent on a guy playing golf and tweeting all day. No wall, no deportations, Obamacare still in place, nothing but tweets, mulligans, and "alternate facts."
