To be fair, this -is- the only rational decision they could make -- and its good to see a couple Democrats understood this.

One has to wonder what effect the 27,000 gun owners, exercising their right to keep and bear arms, their right to assemble and their right to free speech, had on this vote.

One also has to wonder which of those rights the Democrats will seek to limit next.

And.... why didn't he Antifa trogs show up?

Senators voted to shelve the bill for the year and ask the state crime commission to study the issue, an outcome that drew cheers from a committee room packed with gun advocates.

    Celebrating to soon folks...

Actually for us this is horrible news. Now Democrats can pretend once again for another election cycle that they really don't want to take away our weapons.

then don't own one if you don't want one. what you feel anyone else needs has no bearing on constitutionally protected rights.

Not when it comes to implying there must be some demonstrable "need" in order to exercise a right.

The legislative session in Virginia is very short, so they won't be able to sneak it past us. We'll be watching and we'll be ready.

Judging from the remarks of one of the legislators (Creigh Deeds), it sounds like Dems kicked the can down the road because they didn't have their ducks in a row ahead of time and couldn't craft a bill that was narrow and defined enough to withstand a court challenge. The commission they handed the bill to will probably tighten up the language and, I presume, draw up a specific list of weapons and accessories that will be banned. Even if they pass the legislation I expect it will get challenged in court.

The good news is if they proceed with this next year it will be during an election year and it will be fresh in everyone's minds when they go to the polls.

We need to confiscate all Assault weapons. If folks return them-they should get huge compensations

    Also ban high capacity clips
