Wage Theft After Hurricane Harvey

While Republicans denigrate the "illegal Mexican" (and they are here illegally) it is obvious that those in Texas do not mind exploiting them for their hard working skills, and lack of protection from the government. If not for the Mexican laborer Houston would be no where near the recovery it has seen as would most of Texas damaged by Hurricane Harvey:

Republicans are quiet as church mice, when it's mentioned that billions are paid
into Social Security by Mexican workers.

 

The obvious solution would be to send all the illegal immigrants back to their country of origin so that the crime of paying into a system they might not benefit from will never take place.

 

The current GOP congress and the puppet POTUS WH are the definition of corruption..........

 

Businesses have always exploited them, and that is one reason we have not stopped illegal immigration by going after employers.

So, back during the housing bubble, with new constructions here were popping up everywhere, when house flipping was all the rage, my son a law, a subcontractor had been in construction for 20 years. Suddenly, with the influx of illegals, he started to lose bids. Why? His competition had illegal aliens doing the work, with an american supervising them, talking to the customer, etc. One of the illegals could always speak half arse english, enough to communicate with the supervisor. SO my son in law and some other contractors who used legal american labor were driven out of the construction business by low bids, by other contractors who did not mind breaking the law, and saving themselves labor costs, while they got much of the business.

You solve the problem of illegals being ripped off by enforcing immigration law and going after employers with stiffer penalties for being criminals. So, no carrots to bring illegals here, and you solve this old problem. But congress on behalf of interests like the national chamber of commerce allow cheaper illegal labor for their members.

When Ike went after getting the illegals out of the southwest and texas, he was smart enough to understand the corruption involved, and sent the heads of immigration in that area up north and brought down the clean immigration officials to help run this operation. Ike was successfull. For these immigration officials were crooks and worked with the elites and politician in texas to insure cheap labor was there for business and those who wanted cheap yard boys and maids. Of course now this corruption which allows illegals in, along with not enforcing the laws and going easy on business, has make this problem nationwide and not just texas and the southwest as it Ike's time. We actually had presidents back then who would do their job. If trump tried to do this, can you imagine what would happen? lol And that is how this nation has changed.

 

A better solution is to JAIL the owners/employers who use illegals......if the illegals didn't get hired by sleazy corrupt businesses they wouldn't have a reason to come here.

 

lol. And your party is clean? Get outta town. lol How many illegals will you take in and feed, and care for? You should really practice what you believe in, unless you want others to foot the bill for your madness.

 

This would work immediately and quite efficiently at saving tax dollars.

 

BUT this tRUmp Admin and this GOP congress has taken it to new record levels. Hypocrisy is not partizan.

 

Amen. Take away the carrots and the rabbits stay home. But we will not do that. Neither party. Only when you represent working americans would you do this. And of course they are not represented anymore. Business is. And business loves cheap illegal labor, people they can exploit. Why do you thing they went to china? But not all could go, so we just open up the borders, so our stay at home businesses would not get jealous of the MNCs.

 

I detest both of them. I don't see much of a difference.

You should tell that to California's AG Xavier Becerra....a good little La Raza commie who's threatening to prosecute business owners who don't hide their illegal employees from ICE.

Strong comment and true but we aren't talking about that state who I suspect is run by aliens from outer space but my home state of Texas.

This is a gdamn shame and I detest all the partisan trolling blaming congress and POTUS. I blame these contractors and their greed, taking advantage of both the government/insurance companies/homeowners and these illegal workers. Of course the illegals are bearing the brunt of the pain. 25%? Jesus that's flagrant. It's too high a number and equates in my mind to slavery.

Any man or woman that puts in an honest days work deserves to be paid for it. I look forward to researching this more fully and seeing what Texas does about it. Texas is conservative but overall pro immigrant. We need them too much.

Oh, I doubt it's a majority of employers that underpay. Seriously, in my experience an illegal immigrant crew works as 1099 contractors under a legal friend, or family member. The legal member bids the job and all others work under the legal front. I'm not sure how you'd nail the corporate employer as you'd like. Frankly, the employer that would be hurt probably is in the same shape as the illegal crew.

Also in my experience, the majority of Mexican's work hard. They're industrious and have a work ethic that matches mine. I welcome legal immigrants from the south enthusiastically!

On the issue of a test to work. That is in fact what e-verify is, a license to work. Requiring a license or condition that must be meet to work can be taken away. We've seen this with professional licenses, drivers licenses, commercial drivers license, pilots licenses, sole proprietor business licenses, USCG masters license, etc. throughout these 50 states. Get behind on child support, boom licenses suspended. Fail to pay a court fine, boom, drivers, professional, tradesmen licenses suspended. Fail to pay a traffic ticket, boom, licenses suspended Fail to pay taxes or fees, boom, licenses suspended.

Nope, I'm opposed to licensing work, especially general labor.

 

I'm all for doing both. Hold the owners legally liable, deport the illegals. Win-win.

 

Better than jailing them would be shooting them, no blindfolds.

Yes, but your president isn't....he only wants to deport the weakest ones who can't defend themselves(it's the Bully syndrome)....and forget about who benefits from the illegals coming here, protect the Wealthy Gods at all costs.

 

All the more reason to boot them out, if you make them legal then they provided no benefit to society at large.

Not only businesses, but police and local organized crime exploit illegal immigrants. They are shaken down regularly by cops and thugs in my area. Just another great argument for sending them back to their country of origin.

Of course, LW care only about self-enrichment and power, so don't care one whit what injustices happen to their "permanent client class." The more suffering the better actually, then they can claim more government is required to fix. Truly degenerate, disordered people, and more and more average Americans are realizing it.
