Hey, it's just more proof that Obama has screwed the US economy up.

Things are not getting better in the US, but worse.

If things were getting better sales would be up all over.

So you are in favor of Wal-Mart giving all of it's 1.5 million employees an arbitrary wage increase to a 'living wage' (however this might be quantified?), all of which creates higher costs to Wal-Mart, which in turn forces Wal-Mart to increase the prices on ALL of their products and services, which are consumed by ~150 million people per week?

A complete lack of understanding of the economy and the cause and effects of government meddling in the private economy...

Just how much do you believe basically unskilled workers at Wal-Mart should be paid? Their average wage today is $10/$12 an hour. What wage DO YOU believe they should be paid?

Wal-Mart has 1.5 million employees so don't you think it's better for the workers to be working and productive versus 100% on government welfare?

Lastly, if you believe Wal-Mart is the enemy of America, then explain why 1.5 million Americans shop there every week??

I'm not the owner of Wal-Mart.

I was putting this thread into perspective. Wal-Mart has seen a drop in sales of 0.9%.

BFD. Maybe their CEO will have to buy a G-4 instead of a private 747 this year.

There is good reason to be concerned. Look at the other big retailers like KMart, Sears, JC Penny and Best Buy. They all have been closing stores. Some could go out of business.

Americans could help strengthen this economy if we did more to support American owned business and products. But sadly to say, many don't give it a thought when shopping.

I think Best buy will survive. They are just downsizing from their battle with circuit city a few yeas ago (every time a circuit city opened they would open a best buy right across the street and everything would have its prices slashed). Downsizing by them has been expected and will be healthy for the company in the short and long term.

unfortunately, many of the others big retail chains will die out in the next few decades and walmart will swallow up the markets. I think Target can offer some competition though. Its like " mid to upper middle class" walmart.

Jim Crow laws were done by white Democrats. LBJ needed Republicans to get Civil Rights passed.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid, Oh Yeah!

Liberal/Progressivism is a mental disorder. I'm surprised you haven't embraced true liberalism and demanded a 35 hour work week like France.

Now extrapolate. Air pollution in China and India due to their increased industrial output means that their air pollution runs through all of the countries in the world. If they decide to live that way, what (*)(*)(*)(*)ing good does it do for us to strangle our economy just so liberal morons can feel better about themselves?

Are you seriously arguing that Southern Democrats were liberals?

I guess then, since you are aruging that Republicans must be Conservatives, that Conservatism is pro-suspension of habeus corpus and pro-martial law as was declared in the Civil War.

When people can't even afford to shop at WAL*MART, it's pretty bad.

Nobody thinks the recession is over and we've turned the corner.
It's on him and it should be. He's a FAIL.

maybe he wanted it this way

Liberal. Progressive. Take your pick. They are of the same cloth. I'll leave you with:

Southern Democrat Woodrow Wilson. Segregated the Armed Services. Segregated federal offices. Appointed mostly southern Segregationists to his cabinet. Overtly racist President.

You're not suggesting he was a conservative are you?

not only that, but foreign outsourcing not only sends jobs overseas, but for each job sent, that is one less consumer\tax payer with a job in the USA, we have put our hand in Pandora's box and now we can't get it out

    corporate greed is killing America

Are you arguing that Republican Teddy Roosevelt who regulated businesses, downsized the military, and increased the size of government was a conservative?

Does racial segregation sound progressive to you?

It certainly sounds traditional, aka "conservative" to me.

you forget that i said liberals/progressives. I never said democrats passed all those.

Back then the south was dominated by conservatives just as it is today, back then the democrats were the conservative party.

you just made a strawman to distract from my argument. their pollution affects us in an absolutely minimal way compared to what unregulated pollution here would cause. I can't eat fish out of my towns lake because in the 40's and 50's the coal power plants were allowed to dump all their waste into the water supplies and do nothing to filter their emissions. Thus, there is assloads of mercury in every body of water in my area created prior to 40 years ago. We should never go back to those days.
rivers catching on fire, tap water with the consistency of tide detergent, more carcinogens in the ground and air than all (*)(*)(*)(*).

oh, he was definitely conservative. He had a few liberal tendencies, but that was because you had to too survive politically during the progressive era. Do you forget that Taft and Roosevelt, 2 of the most progressive presidents in American history came directly before him? And were Republicans?

The unemployment rate would go down... we know that for sure.

Liberals don't understand basic economics. Every time the minimum wage is raised, the unemployment rate goes up.

No it does not sound conservative. Perhaps you should learn which side wants bigger government. It isn't the right.
