I personally don't think politicians should be permitted to award donors with government contracts. Even if they aren't donating to Trump directly, this is a problem because he benefits from his allies receiving donations.

I highly doubt this disturbs any Trumpers. I'm just curious to see which of the two stock responses they will use. #fakenews or "so what."

This is why we need Congress Senate and president tax returns. We need to see who is profiting from the policy they make.

Nobody gives a ****. States are punishing agencies that do business with ICE and businesses that exchange goods and services with Alabama and North Carolina.

If states can pick and choose which companies their own businesses deal with based strictly on political policy, then so be it.

So yeah, I hope a business that supports the president gets presidential support.

    THis quote from CNN:
"Citing conversations with multiple unnamed administration officials"

Why is it that the left always believes this crap from CNN?

CNN was the first to write anything about the infamous dossier, which was unverified and proven that there was no collusion. The NYT and WaPo had the information and they didn't publish it because they couldn't verify it's veracity. Not a problem for CNN however. Veracity means nothing to them. No peepee tapes either. Just unmitigated smear. More examples of the garbage CNN publishes:

‘Remember, it’s illegal to possess’ WikiLeaks Clinton emails, but ‘it’s different for the media,’ says CNN’s Chris Cuomo
    "From Chris Cuomo on CNN:
Also interesting is, remember, it’s illegal to possess these stolen documents. It’s different for the media. So everything you learn about this, you’re learning from us.”"
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...he-media-says-cnns-chris-cuomo/?noredirect=on

Then-CNN contributor Donna Brazile to Clinton camp: Sometimes ‘I get the questions in advance’
“From time to time I get the questions in advance.” The email was written by Donna Brazile, who was then a CNN contributor and a reputable Democratic strategist. Here’s the text of the email, which was sent a day before the town hall:

Here’s one that worries me about HRC.

DEATH PENALTY 19 states and the District of Columbia have banned the death penalty. 31 states, including Ohio, still have the death penalty. According to the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, since 1973, 156 people have been on death row and later set free. Since 1976, 1,414 people have been executed in the U.S. That’s 11% of Americans who were sentenced to die, but later exonerated and freed. Should Ohio and the 30 other states join the current list and abolish the death penalty?

Jennifer Palmieri, the communications director for the campaign, wrote back, “Hi. Yes, it is one she gets asked about. Not everyone likes her answer but can share it.” She instructed an aide to send Clinton’s position along. That sequence suggests that Brazile may have been forwarding the question for her own purposes — that is, to be prepared for some panel discussion about the death penalty. If so, it shows just how faithfully a CNN contributor seeks to toe the Clinton line.

This is another one that used an "anonymous source):
Three CNN journalists resign after Russia-related article retracted
(Reuters) - Time Warner’s news division CNN has accepted the resignations of three journalists after the publication of a Russia-related article that was later retracted, a CNN spokesperson said on Monday.

The three journalists included Thomas Frank, the writer of the story; Eric Lichtblau, an editor in CNN's investigative unit; and Lex Haris, who oversaw the unit, the network had earlier reported. [cnnmon.ie/2td7Ufy]

The Russia-related story, published on Thursday, reported Congress was investigating the ties of a Russian investment fund to an aide of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"CNN was forced to climb down from a report Friday that an encryption key allowing access to hacked content had been emailed to Donald Trump and aides two months before the presidential election.
Such a key had been emailed, the cable network said in a corrected report, but the material it gave access to was already in the public sphere, and not previously unseen as an initial CNN report suggested.
The retraction was issued following conflicting reports from other news outlets
establishing that the email in question was sent on 14 September 2016, and not 4 September as CNN originally reported."

CNN Retracts Report That U.S. Used Nerve Gas
Cable News Network executives yesterday retracted the network's report that the United States military used lethal sarin nerve gas in a secret 1970 mission in Laos with the intention of killing American defectors.
The retraction, broadcast yesterday afternoon and accompanied by an apology, was based on an independent investigation, done at CNN's request, that showed the report's conclusions were not supported by the evidence.

CNN accused of blackmailing Reddit user behind Trump's wrestling meme
"Mr Trump recently tweeted an edited clip from his 2007 "WrestleMania" appearance, in which he tackles World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon to the ground. In the edited clip, Mr McMahon’s head is replaced with a CNN logo – a reference to the President’s ongoing feud with the network."

"In response, reporters from CNN tracked down the alleged source of the gif: a Reddit user with the screen name “HanA**holeSolo," who posted a similar gif on the Reddit forum "r/The_Donald." "

Citing an apology from the user, however, CNN said it would not publish his identity.

“CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again,” CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski wrote.

He added: “CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.”

So why should we believe them now?

There should be (and probably is) a defined process for awarding contracts, which should include fair procedures for soliciting bids, analyzing them, and choosing a winner.

I wonder if he did this when developing real estate. If so, it would explain his bankruptcies. Even if he's a smart guy, as CEO - he should have had finance experts do the work.

I suppose it depends how 'aggressively' exactly.

Simply trying to do a friend a favor and draw people's attention to the positive points of going with a certain contractor isn't necessarily very unethical.

But there are a lot of messages that can go unsaid. That's a big problem trying to enforce ethics in any organization.

Lots of government officials have gone to jail for "helping" friends get government contracts.

Too bad CNN has cried wolf too many times, we couldn't even be sure if they did uncover a genuine ethics breach.

Solyndra called, it wants its hypocrisy back. And this has a more proven chance of success.

Did Obama personally push for any special treatment for Solyndra?
Were its top executives major donors to him?

The federal government has rules for bidding on contracts. The rules are designed to ensure that every contractor gets a fair shake, and that contracts are not divvied up due to favoritism, but on merit. The rules are designed to avoid creating a "swamp".

3link nailed this one. Most responses from Trump supporters are a variation of "fake news" or "so what".

AOC is a Somali terrorist, because I heard it from a guy who works somewhere.......uuuuum....yeah, lets go with that. That's newsworthy.

Seems the MSM and Democrat plan is to continue to just infest the airwaves 24/7 with ANYTHING that paints Trump in a negative light. Its marketing 101. And because the MSM isn't policing themselves, because they're mostly Liberal partisan hacks, they can all get away with it. Did you know some illegals recently murdered Americans? Neither did I=) Its like only a couple sources bother to cover those sorts of things, because you know...racism and uuuuum....white people.

there is, but politicians will either find a loop hole or just plain break the rules. not all the time, but certainly enough to warrant more transparency.

Yes follow the money that's prudent always, but let's not jump to conclusions with every aroma that drifts by you biased nose. Arguing for a better product at a better price and delivered on time is appropriate behavior and policy. I'm not seeing the problem here, unless the deviation from all to often over budget behind schedule inferior product the government usually contracts for is going to be awarded.

The Post said Trump has taken a liking to Fisher because of the company's "public claims that a new weathered steel design and innovative construction method would vastly speed up the project — and deliver it at far less cost to taxpayers."

A senior White House official told the Post that Trump, who was told Fisher was cheaper and more efficient than other companies, "had not told Semonite he must award the contract to the company but had repeatedly brought up Fisher Industries as an option because he sees the process as too expensive and too slow."

In a statement to the Post, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders touted Trump's ability to "negotiate the best deals," and said, "He wants to to make sure we get the job done under budget and ahead of schedule."

I read where several companies are in the running. I guess it depends on price and quality. Everything is such a big deal with Democrats. They should have been eyeballing Obama like this....
