Apparently they don't take that responsibility very seriously. 8)

The difference between the US and Latvia is that in Latvia it is legal to make Nazi demonstrations, while in the US it is forbidden.

After years under the Russian domination, Ukrainians decided to become free and independant. Putin cannot accept to have a free and independant neighbour; the risk of contagion is too high.

Now Finland has understood that and they are taking steps to minimize their vulnerability.

Finland is free and independent, Norway is free and independent, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania -are free and independent. Russia have borders with many independent countries and so far that was not an issue.

Right; until Russia invaded Ukraine for no reason. So Finland people asking themselves: if Russia feels free to invade a neighbour without any objective reason, what's keeping it from invading us?

Everything has its reason. There are no wars without any reasons. In case with Ukraine there were several reasons: fear of Putin that Ukraine will join NATO and set up NATO bases there; shelling Donbass region for almost 8 years by Ukranian military and some others. Weather these reasons justify intervention is another question. But the reasons are there.

A whim is also a reason. IMHO, it's the only one he had to invade Ukraine.
