I suspect that had he had never uttered a single word, fewer Americans would have gotten sick. If he had demurred on any questions of public health that he was not willing to learn about prior, the country would be in better shape. 35 years ago, It was seen as reprehensible that Reagan did not publicly recognize AIDS even existed or that people were dying from it for year after year after year. Now that seems like an improvement.

Baloney. This Chinese Covid 19 started in another country. Trump DID act by banning travel from that country. Meanwhile Congress was too busy with the silly impeachment nonsense to do anything.

Answer me one question, why aren't we like South Korea, which has shown the world how this virus can and should be handled? For that matter, I am equal parts thrilled and shocked at the cast of clowns that were running for the Democrat nomination. I would also agree that out of that cast of clowns, Biden is surely your best choice, but that isnt saying much. He is an increasingly frail old man who clearly is not nearly as sharp as he once was. In that sense, he is a typical 78 year old man. It is sincerely shocking that he is the best that Democrats could provide as far as their nominee. I realize that you will have no choice but to support him fully, but deep down, even hardcore Democrats know that he is a seriously flawed presidential candidate. The best that you can do is keep him hidden as much as possible and you hope that you can make this election a referendum on Trump and not about Biden at all. The Coronavirus is actually very helpful to Democrats chances for a lot of reasons, and one of those is that Biden can likely coast into the convention while avoiding having rallies where he reveals his growing senility, while simultaneously stopping Trump rallies which are a gigantic strength for him.

At some point however, he is going to have to once again hit the campaign trail and he will also have to have one on one debates with Trump. Those are things that do not bode well for him. On the bright side for Democrats however, the Covid Virus creates a lot of uncertainty, and if that goes extremely bad for Trumps approval, it wouldn't matter whom was your nominee, so there is always that going for your electoral chances.

Simple answer:

Because the United States IS NOT LIKE South Korea.

1) The U.S. is several times larger than South Korea population wise.
2) The U.S. is several times larger than South Korea land area wise which means a far more dispersed population in a wider variety of geographic areas. The population of South Korea is pretty much concentrated in one or two major urban areas.
3) South Korea is pretty much racially homogenous. The U.S. is diverse with an immensely wider range of cultural and community norms than South Korea.

 

I love Trump hate logic. A bill that was never passed means that budget increases for CDC over the last three years didn't happen and a disease that is unprecedented in human history could have been predicted before it ever happened. Such illogical claptrap is why we are in this situation.

And South Korea has institutions in place to deal with Pandemics, which have been a predicted fact of life for all countries in the world for decades now. We have Donald Trump, who thinks that we don't need to spend money on things like readiness and research since we can just hire doctors when we need them, like truck mechanics. Besides, we need another cadre of Aircraft Carriers to fight hill bandits in the Iranian desert much more than we need to keep our populace safe from deadly diseases

 

350,000 known cases. And with the lack of testing in most of the world and it's varied symptoms ... I think it probably has reached the pandemic phase by now since the numbers are still rising in many parts of the world.
