2012 Jeep compass latitude. black lockable wheels, remote engine start, butt warmers. full time traction on demand 4X4...... 4 banger
i got 2 updates. couldnt find a pinto, wagon or hatch, so i found a rolling chassis of a 88' bmw 325i 2 door im gonna drop my 2.3l tubro/carb ford engine and trans into. also im gonna be reviatlizing a 74'Gran Torino Elite that belongs to my grandfather. This wont take too much though because the interior is immaculate, the body doesnt have any dents but can use a well done detailing, and the motor is running quite nice except because of a particular jackass whom i will not mention, im gonna have to purchase a 6pack and custom manifold from edelbrock so it can run like it used to when it was fully built. Other than that i figure just upgrade the suspension a bit and some nice wheels and she will be running and rolling like new. cant wait to get started. so much on my plate now haha.
so yeah Jarlaxle if you could spare some of your wisdom regarding the Torino, any help would be much appreciated as I am wanting to add a bit of flare to the project as far as beefing up the suspension and applying a mild drop. Im thinking straight up cruiser/show car.
My daily driver is an old 94 Cavalier with 220,000 on the clock and my project car in the garage. A 68 Merc Montero. And if you have never heard of it, don't worry, it was never built. I'm taking a 68 Ran hero and grafting the front sheet metal from a 68 Merc Montego onto it. Using all Merc interior and badging. The name comes from combining the two names into one. A little warmed up 302 with a C4 .
With all due respect what do you see in a BMW? I kind of detest them and like someone that doesnt like cats I dont know why. Resale is ok and road manners are good to excellent. Performance and motor...well maybe that is one reason I dont like them. But The styling is good, but like a mobile home with wheels it doesnt age well compared to an American muscle car for instance. I mean I would much rather have a 66' ford mustang fast back with a bone crusher four speed and hi po 289. than a like year BMW in the same price range. Or a more expensive range compro same year, say a 66' BMW of your choice in a 30>50k price range. Again I would choose a 66 Shelby cobra mustang. Lastly what about a BMW comparo with a american car two seater? Say 60,000 k to 100k (less than three or five k original cost) ? Give me a 66 corvette sting ray black on black w/a 427 475 motor. Even better by a light year and more expensive, a 427 ford based cobra AC two seater alum bodied Ferrari killer. Not ragging you all but hey I am a hillbilly. NASCAR is ok but I like road courses the old and newer TransAM is a fav of mine as is drag racing. reva
5.7 Toyota Tundra Toyota Sienna Acura MDX going Japanese was the among smartest thing I've ever done, it makes me cry when I think of all the money I wasted on N american made crap...
'67 Mercury Cougar Convertable with a 4 speed Hurst/351 Cleveland........134K mi '93 Lexus SC400.....122K mi '94 Chevy Impala SS.....75K mi '94 Mercedes E320......375K mi '01 Jaguar XJ8.....66K mi All run perfectly and I have less than 40K invested in all 5
so good they keep going after you take your foot off the throttle? quality like their reactors? bwhahahaha
Who said GM makes bad cars ? My 99 Buick Regal rides a creampuff after 136,000 miles, has 1 finger steering, and ALL the lights and accessories work, with ice cold air (really important here in Florida). It's also got both a CD player AND a cassette player, with terrific sound. I also like the audio controls on the steering wheel. Can't say these things about my previous car (2001 Ford Taurus) or my neighbor's car (2003 Honda Accord). I honestly like this car more than the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire I bought brand new, in the year 2000.
and a cassette player!...didn't know you could even buy cassettes any more....audio controls? really, unless there one equipped like that on the dealers lot it's up to you to order it from the factory... regals, sunfires, taurus ...you're dwelling at the low end of quality...which may be not a bad thing we spend far to much money on cars which 99% of the day sit there moving...
actually people putting piling aftermarket floor mats on top of the factory floors mats which caught on the accelerator, my wife did that makes no sense to me so I threw hers away....
what vehicles do I have , hmmm 2007 Ford F250 HD 2012 Lexus RX400h 2010 Ford Mustang GT convertible 2010 Chevy Silverado1500 2013 Ford Focus ST 1969 Ford Fairlane 1966 Ford Mustang convertible 1971 Chevy C10 and then a whole slew of various makes and models that are future projects.
you're like my brother who has trouble parting with cars, he built a storage facility to hold all his "babies" that he never drives...some people collect stamps and others cars ...
I still have my 05 Dodge Dakota (4x4). I just had to replace the alternator and battery, but she is still running strong.
I buy and sell quite a bit of cars. The HD is my farm truck, the Lexus is my wife's, the Mustang and the Silverado are my boys' graduation gifts when they graduated high school, the Focus I just bought for myself b/c gas is too expensive to drive the V10 powered F250 everyday, the Fairlane was my first car, Ive had it since I was 15 (I'm 41 now), the 66 Mustang I just love, ad the C10 belonged to my grandfather who passed away 2 years ago.
you should have thrown out the factory mat. Toyota recalled those too despite not one instance of police finding them at fault in unintended accelation..which does occur commonly enough for police to look at the foot well first. not real difficult to design-make the damn rug go under the petals, then up the firewall and then it won't slide over the pedals. duh.
come back in 20 years-my 1985 Cherokee is running fine, but i did replace the OEM starter last summer.
I never had an issue with the mats they never moved but Toyota did a recall anyways and installed to hooks to keep the mats in place... speaking with the Toyota service people they said the problem was multiple mats, people buying aftermarket mud mats to keep their original mats clean...I respect the fact Toyota did the recall despite it wasn't their fault...I've had two other recalls for repairs that items that caused no issues that's good service...unlike an issue I saw on a news report where a Ford SUV has had issues with the power steering switching off while driving, at first they denied there any incidents they were aware of, then after it was revealed they were aware and there were a number of incidents they changed their explanation to "it's not a safety issue the vehicle is still safe to operate"...if it was Toyota there would've been a recall... http://www.torquenews.com/106/2011-ford-explorer-under-investigation-power-steering-failures
would those be the same service people that don't disclose all the repairs they made while they took a day to change your oil so you think you have a problem free car?
