I think the young lady makes some excellent points regarding some of the harsh realities of life. I particularly wonder what women think of her comments? Also, I did not think the "womens rights" subforum was the place for this. Mods if you think its more appropriate there, please relocate this thread there.
I liked her comments on women being born wealthy and dying poor vs men being born poor and dying wealthy were interesting. I had never thought about it like that.
Southern was born in Surrey, British Columbia and currently resides in Toronto.[3] She studied political science at the University of the Fraser Valley but dropped out after two years to focus on her political activism.[4][5] wiki Apparently she isn't and never was married, but claims to know how everyone else should live. So consider the source. She is an uneducated, self-proclaimed expert, a dropout, giving other people life-critical advice on subjects she knows nothing about first hand. Sounds like a righty to me! I think there is some truth in what she said. Feminism is waning. What I see are sugar babies everywhere. They are everywhere. Young women are finding that it is nice to have a man take care of them in return for a no bs relationship. They are sick of young guys who have been warped by internet porn and treat women like crap. And young men are looking at marriage and saying, forget it! There are even groups of straight men who have given up on women altogether. The all see the divorce rates with their parents and grandparents. As one young lady told me, both her grandparents and parents all hate each other. Why would she want to get married?!?! Women have been disrespecting men ever since they first started burning their bras back in the 60s. This in my view has created generations of women who see themselves as entitled, and victims of men. Younger women have told me that they see this in their mothers, and they reject it. Fewer people are getting married young not due to promiscuity, rather, economics. This is true for both men and women [obviously!!!]. She also ignores that many marriages don't last long. So men off the market by their early twenties may well be back on the market in their 30s. It is true entirely that men continue to appreciate youth. And women are often fine with older men. She is falsely assuming that only men her age are viable. But many younger women are discovering that older men can be more appealing than younger men. Not only do we have more money, we appreciate them more than young men do [on the average]. As men get older, we often begin to appreciate women in more meaningful ways, and more profoundly. And they like that. When my first sugar baby of three years finally ended things, my heart absolutely breaking, we talked about what we had learned. She said that first and foremost, it cured her of ageism. She was over 25 years younger than me but we had a wonderful relationship; not to mention lots of great sex! In short, while there is some truth in what she says, the author's views are naive and limited. She also ignores the 50% divorce rate among her parents and grandparents, who weren't nearly as promiscuous. The fact is, when divorce became practical in the 70s, people couldn't wait to get the hell out. There is no evidence at all that marriage and family is the best bet for a happy life; only that in the past, there were no better options. But relationships are evolving and growing more sophisticated. And many people have given up on the idea of marriage altogether. It is illogical to believe that two people who are happy today, always will be. It is a crap shoot. We all change. And we don't know who we'll be in ten or twenty years. Marriage is a toss of the dice. Some people get lucky and others don't. And there is no evidence that all people are cut out for marriage.
Just had my 25th wedding anniversary. I don't need some self-righteous kid telling me about relationships.
First time I ever heard the word "Chaste" pronounced with a short "a" and that is about all I found interesting on that video because I looked it up and I was correct and she pronounced it wrong.
In a few hours France will have a new president with a wife 24 years his senior. Maybe he'll start a trend.
She's a radical. She goes against popular culture that tells women you can sleep with anything that moves and have no regrets.
People in other countries speak differently than what you may be familiar with. She also said "mage a zine". Seems an odd thing to bring up though.
Newsflash, thin, young and healthy lady in the video who is a little too judgmental and full of herself: You, too, are afflicted by that condition called aging and may, eventually become overweight and have cardiovascular disease. In fact, as the leading cause of death, it is not unlikely that you'll die from cardiovascular disease. But, I am sure you'll acknowledge at that point that is was just your irresponsible lifestyle and that the new young, thin and healthy women without cardiovascular disease are just better and more responsible than you.
I would also add that young women are now choosing their sexual partners by looks. That is a very, very stupid thing for them to do.
I didn't see this as judgemental, but rather a recognition of harsh realities. She did have a good point in that its better to hear this now, rather than later as a cat lady.
Bah. Haven't watched it, but assume it is Lauren Southern. Known about her for quite a time, but never really liked her as she rarely says anything new or "revolutionary". She is just one of many of those good-looking girls who talks politics, but who earns views brcause of her face rather than her opinions. Sad but true.
She didn't talk about herself much at all. But yeah she's thin and pretty and young so a lot of women are going to hate her.
Well, it is hard to ignore that her looks has helped her generate views. Men are simple creatures and will tune into any moron (not saying Lauren is a moron but) as long as she looks remotely good. There is this other popular blonde girl on Youtube talking politics with no real substance at all, but who still has a big fanbase. Believe her name is Blonde in The Belly of The Beast. There are some more alt-rights girls like that who, if you really listen to them, are quite boring and uniteresting.
I used to watch alot of her in the past and have listened to some pods where she is a guest. She can sometimes say some interesting stuff, but for the most of the part, she is really not that interesting. I have heard that her book is good though and might order it.
What I would have added to her video is the fact that women are born rich and become poor is the reason that arranged marriages came into extistance. When girls are young and pretty they are also naive and unwise, and will often choose the worst possible man. I know this because many years ago I was that man. Fathers and mothers did not want to see this happen thus arranged marriages.
Interesting, did not know that but it makes sense. With the current divorce rate being somewhere around 50%, maybe they were on to something.
