For those of you that have some how missed it we are about to have a total eclipse of the sun track across the US. Interesting for the science minded but hardly earth shattering except apparently for out elected officials who are treating it like the worst thing ever and warning us every day of one calamity or the other that could befall us as the light grows dim for 5 minutes or so. Sorry even if a lot of us are dumb enough to keep voting Democrat we don't minders to take care of us for that five minutes of dim light. About the only thing they haven't suggest is to go sacrifice a goat on a rock to make the light come back. It used to be we'd get told to not look directly at it because doing so could damage your eyes now we are being told about car wrecks cause by the none to sudden onset of dim light, and they want to close schools in some place along the path. It's just insane and exactly what you should expect with the nanny state in full panic mode.
Where are you seeing all these daily warnings of one calamity after another? Your thread is the first I'm hearing about these "calamities".
A lot of different places local news outlets, there was one out of virginia and another further west of here. None of it seems to be coming from the feds. It seems to be mostly from locals worried they might not be able to handle the influx of visitors for 15 minutes or so. But it seems to be something different every day. The wife's been paying more attention but she spends a lot of time on face book so she may be picking some of it up there.
So basically much ado about nothing. I figured as much. No one should ever look to Facebook or any other social media site for news…total garbage.
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
Can you cite some examples? I mean, I saw an article about how CERN is coming back online during the eclipse to investigate some sort of science ghost that seems to have reconfoobled in its energymotron ...or whatever. But other than that (lol) I havn't seen much of what you're referring to.
See my first response in the thread. It's almost all coming from the locals along the predicted path.
That seems what local politicians in the immediate vicinity of the path of totality are Trying to orchestrate. Or come to think of putting out the call to the nerds with money who want to experience a total eclipse that it's going to briefly be where they are so they can suck in some tourist dollars. That would certainly explain why the cries of alarm are only coming from locals along the path.
