This afternoon I went to a memorial for a friend's daughter who had died. There was so much food, I can't even remember it all, but had a little bit of chix, potatoes, salad, deviled eggs & desert....

I took a salad that my family & friends like:

    Chopped up cabbage
    Chopped green apples
Golden raisins .... but I imagine the dark ones would be ok too.....
Nuts (any kind you want - I usually use sun flower seeds).
Stir in Poppy Seed dressing - and enjoy.

I think the next time I make it, I'm going to throw in shredded carrots also...

Tonight I'm having spaghetti bolagnaise, with sauce out of a can, and wheat/gluten/egg/dairy free rice pasta. The toughest choice I have to make is whether I should have spiral noodles, or the sticks? Maybe both...

    That sounds wonderful.
We'll be having a spinach salad, chicken cutlets in citrus wine sauce, along with Jasmin rice.

I'm having a Prawn Sandwich for lunch today.

Tonight I'll probably make some sauteed Eel topped with mushrooms simmered in Bordeaux Wine, and maybe some broccoli and spiced Jasmine rice on the side.

Eeeeeeeel? I've never tasted that. Is it slimy?

We had risotto and a milky rice pudding.

    couple of red peppers
    spray olive oil
    2 garlic cloves
    chopped tomatoes
    vegetable stock
    cooked rice

grill the peppers until blistered, put them in cool water, peel off the skins and slice them
heat the oil, add garlic and tomatoes and cook on a low heat for 5 mins
Add the peppers, cook for about 15 mins
heat the veg stock in another pan and at simmering, slowly stir in the rice and cook for 3 minutes
slowly add stock and stir until the stock is absorbed by the rice
once the rice is soft and cooked...leave it for 5 mins and then wolf it down.

The milky rice pudding is just 75g rice almost cooked in 50 ml water and then add 1/2 grated carrot and 600ml milk and cook slowly for about an hour. Then take it off the heat and add 2 tsp sugar/sweetener, 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, some chopped almonds, 1/4 tsp saffron, 2 drops rose essence, 1 tsp vanilla essence, and a handful of sultanas if you want, then heat it and enjoy...or refrigerate and enjoy.

It's wonderful in my opinion. I say this nevertheless, also being a fan of organ meats and other "oddities". The only two things I will never eat again are Ant Larvae and Pig Uterus, but I'm pretty open to trying most anything. Just keep that in mind when I give my culinary opinion on things like this...LOL!

Yes, it's very slimy due to the mucous being part of the natural defense mechanisms of the Eel. However, if your making something like Jellied Eel it actually provides a natural "jelly" instead of using a thickener like gelatin. I think it tastes like a cross between fish and chicken.

Will do. Good to see someone else like's this kind of food. I like to experiment with flavors, and have turned out some pretty good food before. One of my favorites is Quail Eggs on Sea Scallops with a light curry/cayenne sauce...absolutely delicious.

Then again, I've also made some pretty hideous things that were barely edible  .

Have you ever tried simple rose syrup instead?

Had to rethink the seasons for a minute.
What kind of peppers do you grow, what are your favorites?
    Same with tomatoes? Any favorites?
Love me those Thai chilies, good for everything that ails ya.
Also make for great diet food. The more chilies, the less you eat.

Yes, autumn here (and very hot). Perfect for basil and chilies. The basil is growing like crazy.

I grow a few cherry tomatoes, in pots.

I have a variety of different basil plants (red, green, purple), and about 6 or7 different chilies.

    Thai chilies are great.

Had green jalapenos tonight that were extra hot!

I love growing herbs as well, and preserve some for the winter.
As with the peppers, I like mine best in oil.

How does stuffed Jalapenos sound for supper?

    Am considering Zook Bomba .
Best bit is when you smash it unmercifully with the rolling pin
