Yeah, hate-filled bigoted and racist and violent people are bad; and it's almost -- but not quite -- surprising how very many of them are showing up nowadays as leftists. One wonders that the collective Left refuses either to police or condemn their own. But then again they LIKE Louis Farakhan.

There are countless documented instances of these fanatics praising him because they see their "Savior" as carry out their racial agenda.

Does that reality make every Trump worshiper a "white nationalist"? A "white racist"?

Certainly not, but they're out there, and it is futile to pretend otherwise.

It is a dumb association, especially since being a white nationalist and being a patriot are mutually exclusive.

Because a generally agreed upon national identity promotes societal cohesion. Excluding a large segment of a society destroys that cohesion.

Some fantasy version of racial national identity? No, there's no reason they shouldn't have that. The use of State force and violence against non-whites in order to create such a nation? Yeah, there are some good reasons they shouldn't have that.

It was a follow up to his question. He asked about white nationalism, you pivoted away from the question, so I pivoted back to what was being asked.

 

I don't see it that way.

I think that all Americans should have a shared national identity; "white" people included.

The poster asked why "white" people should have a national identity.

I answered that (in my opinion) a national identity is important.

Excluding "white" people from the national identity, by calling them bad names, is divisive.

It is a made up term. An invention of lefties to replace the worn out "racist" term the left has over used.

 

Then that answers Moonglow's question: white people don't need their own separate national identity. Americans should have a shared national identity as Americans, regardless of their race.

 

There is a difference between being ethnocentric and a supremacist but nobody wants to distinguish between the two where instead everybody wants to call everybody racist.

 

White Americans believe American identity is white racially and European.
