According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO): "Compared with prior law, the ACA is now estimated by CBO and JCT to reduce the number of nonelderly people without health insurance coverage by 30 million to 33 million in 2016 and subsequent years, leaving 26 million to 27 million nonelderly residents uninsured in those years... The share of legal nonelderly residents with insurance is projected to rise from 82 percent in 2012 to 93 percent by 2022. According to the current estimates, from 2016 on, between 20 million and 23 million people will receive coverage through the new insurance exchanges, and 16 million to 17 million people will be enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP. What paranoid nonsense. It must be sad going through life crippled by so much ignorant paranoia. Get a clue. The mandate was a repub idea from Romney's health law. What Obama wanted, and still does, is the single payer system and getting the insurance companies out of the healthcare business. That's what we need to accomplish during his second term. The cons have no interest in helping anyone but the rich, and they don't have to worry about healthcare, so don't count on them to do anything.
Actually, the individual mandate goes back much further back than Romney. It was an idea floating around during Reagan's period and then proposed by the Heritage Foundation in 1989. Anybody that thinks that the individual mandate was originally some sort of Democratic conspiracy is a loon and ignorant of history.
