How pray tell, is a cop to know the difference between a mental patient and a meth crazed killer? Neutralize now then work out the details. I mean I surely know how to act in the presence of other social humans, don't you? Police are just one aspect of social behavior. Would you lip off to a cop? Perhaps not. We act according if we are say, restaurant patrons, classmates or whatever. We are to know the proper behavioral attitudes no matter where and with whom we are interacting with.

Cops are killing innocent people and our prisons are full of innocent people. I don't have to fear a cop shooting me and I don't have to fear going to prison. Can guess why?

If you start waving toy guns that look real at police officers expect to be shot. What you call innocent people being killed the rest of us call natural selection.

Examining past events is how we learn and improve, and its how we prevent mistakes from being repeated.

Tell that to 7 year old Aiyana Jones, shot in the head as she slept on the sofa, shot by a "highly trained" cop as he performed a no-knock raid on the wrong address. Or John Crawford, killed as he talked on the phone in WalMart despite not making any threatening moves to anyone (all on video).

We have a trained cadre of professionals - the police - who are supposed to be able to discriminate between a true threat and a real threat, and who are supposed to be able to deal with difficult situations and overcome major obstacles.

Cops are supposed to be better than the average person, thats why they are given great authority and latitude.

The concept has failed, cops act as an occupying force. They get away with things not even the military can get away with. And cops put themselves above everyone else, and that is a recipe for disaster.

What you are claiming is that its acceptable for cops to kill 1,000 innocent people per year, and not be held accountable. In other words, cops are above the law, and you are fine with that.

How many need to die before you stop turning a blind eye? Or is it that many 1,000's can die as long as it doesn't impact you personally?

Imagine if you did exactly what a cop did to John Crawford - you would be in prison today. Yet the cop gets a total pass. You could have the exact same justification as the cop, same sense of fear and threat to your life, same concern for people in the store, same misconception that Crawford was an active shooter, but you would be in prison for killing Crawford. A highly trained professional cop who is supposed to be able to make the right decision fails and gets a pass. Thats wrong, thats backwards, and thats incompetence. But thats fine in your mind.

Your story has nothing to do with what I said, does it. Go back and read what I said and get back to me. Oh and the next time you need help, call a thug.

True. Maybe people won't make an aggressive move based on what happened to that kid in Cleveland.

No the leftists want anarchy, that's why their occuturd protests always end up in violence, that's why the national guard wasn't in place in Ferguson and it was allowed to be burned down. That's why our President has vilified the police at every chance, that's why the leftist media is all of a sudden concerned with an elderly Bill Cosby, that's why Diane Scumbag Feinstein is all of a sudden concerned with publicizing a resolved issue that's why the leftist media lied to the idiots among us and ran the hands up don't shoot story as if it was real.
You have it backwards. As usual. Civilized people don't rob convenient stores, assault police officers or run around public places waving realistic toy guns at police officers. Civilized people don't run around inciting violence.

But its ok for civilized people to have cops that kill peaceful, innocent civilized people?

And why do you think cops immediately kill people with toy guns today, when 20 years ago that was unheard of? Because cops have been conditioned to respond irrationally and fearfully. That conditioning is intentional and part of the "cultural shift" the gun banners hope to achieve through their sublte propaganda campaign.

Decades ago, "progressives" deliberately infiltrated and took over the public and collegiate education systems with the intention of changing the political outlook of the youth of America. They succeeded and one of the results is the "occuturd" crowd. "progressives" hope to repeat the same strategy with gun control.

I responded appropriately to your comment. Cops don't just kill people who reach for something as you suggest. Quit trying to pretend every killing by cop is justified or excusable.

You ignored my comment and decided to go on an anti cop rant. Quit ignoring the fact that people do at times cause their own demise by cop.

Total BS. Cops are supposed to be able to differentiate the true threat, not just show up guns blazing.

With the 12 year old, in the video several people walked past the kid, even interacted with the kid while the kid had the "gun" out, and nobody was fooled or in fear for their lives. But the highyl trained well armed cops show up and immediately kill the kid.

Untrained people were smarter than cops. Thats the fact.

More 20/20 hindsight. You think that kid was the first person to ever each of what looked like a weapon only to be shot? Think again. I don't care who walked by the kid.

I keep hearing people ask what can be done, what can change, and everybody always assumes what can be done with the police. My question is, what can be done about society? This is not the 1950's anymore. There is no mutual respect, there is no self responsibility and there sure as hell is not respect for authority. Society is doing a 180 to back how it was during the crack epidemic in NYC in the 80's, crime everyone, nobody gave a (*)(*)(*)(*), nobody cares. Just let the neighborhood rot. I mean, it's sickening. And the politicians are the biggest problem. All they give a crap about is getting re-elected, so they'll be the last ones to tell people to man up and act right. Instead, they will continue to tell them how it's not their fault and give them free handouts. Shame.

I'm telling you that policing in a re-active (for the most part) profession and police will continue to react to how the public wants to act. If people want to act like savages than that is how they will be treated, if people want to act with respect they will get that in return tenfold. Simple as that. Until society changes, don't expect anything to change with police.

We get it, you don't care about the why and what, you just give all cops a pass no matter how illegal or corrupt the cop is.

There are between 500 and 1200 people killed by cops each year. 95% or more of them were not innocent and their own actions contributed heavily to the fact that they are now deceased. More cops are not killed because they are well and thoroughly trained to deal with a shooting situation and they have body armor that offers more than sufficient protection against against most pistol rounds.

I haven't seen any case where a cop shot an innocent peaceful person on purpose. Perhaps you could cite the case? This is illegal and would be murder. If you wave a realistic looking toy gun at police, you are no longer peaceful and the police have to assume it is real and take you down for their safety as well as other civilians in the vicinity. Everyone with a brain capable of autonomous breathing in the United States knows this.
If the gun was real and the person shot innocent people the same people (like you) would be pissing and moaning about why the police didn't do anything.
I think we should have a police appreciation day where no Police anywhere in the U.S. show up for work. Then we will see how quickly your attitude changes.

May I suggest all the cop haters here go to Washington and read the more than 20,000 names on the memorial to policemen that have been killed in the line of duty.

Its not 500 to 1,200 people killed by cops each year, its 500 to 1,200 victims of excessive force and incompetence. In many cases, it was outright murder. Tell us what John Crawford did to deserve instant assasination - even the DA who investigated the shooting and absolved the killer cop of all wrongs said Crawford did absolutely nothing wrong. Tell us what sleeping 7 year old Aiyana Jones did to deserve a bullet in the head.

Do you blame the rape victim for her ordeal? Maybe not - unless the rapist was a cop, then no doubt you will claim the victims "own actions contributed heavily" to her punishment.

    ***

Training and equipment contribute to making police safer. That doesn't mean that being a cop is so perilous that all cops need guns and need to react violently at every opportunity.

Maybe so few cops are killed on the job because being a cop just isnt that dangerous. Maybe that meme about the "thin blue line" is just crap.

You mean cops don't shoot innocent peaceful people on purpose? That gun just leaps out of the holster, aims, and kills all on its own?

Almost every single person killed by a cop was killed on purpose. Maybe what you mean is that the cop who killed the innocent person acted without first ascertaining who was a threat and who was not. Maybe what you mean is that the cop killed an innocent person because of incompetence, irrational fear, and/or a failure to do his job properly.

John Crawford, one of the examples I am using, was totally innocent but was killed on purpose by a cop. Even teh DA who investigated stated Crawford did not break any laws, was never a threat, and had done nothing wrong. That didnt stop the DA from letting the killer cop go free.

People shoot people every day. Have you heard me complaining about inneffective cops? Your statement is false and the typical rant of a desperate person.

Now you are really grasping at straws. I oppose corrupt, out of control, and unaccountable cops who act and are treated as if they are above the law. Cops are to serve and protect, they are to assist Citizens, they are not our Masters. When cops fulfill their role properly, then they have my support. When they grossly exceed their mandate, then they receive my opposition.

I don't hate cops, I hate cops who abuse their authority, act above the law, and respond inappropriately. In other words, I hate cops who act like thugs. You are at least half right.
