Tom Morello, Adam Jones, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, the guys from Los Lonely Boys, John Mayer (even though I despise his music), Lamb of God, etc.

I'm always impressed by the chops and artistry of Clapton, Tommy Emmanuel, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Frank Vignola, Jeff Beck, Guthrie Govan, and many others. But when it comes time to sit down and spend endless hours just listening, I go to Scott Henderson. I can play (slowly) bits and pieces of what all those others do, and understand what they're doing. But Henderson, it's not just technique. He hears music from a different dimension.

Gee there is a call from right field. Even in Australia he is not that highly regarded as a player. As a song writer, totally different story

My only beef with Tommy Emanuel, a lot of the stuff is show and go, rather than straight honest playing

I would go with Slash from "Guns and Roses."

I agree. While Jeff Beck most certainly isn't my favorite guitarist, I still enjoy some of his songs. My favorite Jeff Beck song is Nadia.

While I have no favorite guitar player, some of my favorite guitar players are Marty Friedman, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Macalpine, and Vinnie Moore. Im a huge fan of neoclassical metal. Thrash metal sucks.

OMG! Unless I missed it, no one named Chuck Berry, who some of the others listed say inspired them.
    Enjoy!

    David Gilmour.

I like lots of different music and different musicians, but if I had to pick just one, Gilmour wins hands down. Probably the only musician that I'd be content to be limited to if I had to chose only one. I really like Richard Thompson's work too.

Can't believe no one said Joe Bonamassa - the guy is great.

In no particular order, some of the guys I enjoy are,

Clapton, Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Eric Johnson, Derek Trucks... to name but a few.

Hendrix is an amazing lead guitarist, but he is not as well rounded on guitar as Clapton and Vaughn. They are amazing on every form of guitar, not just lead. Hendrix is not as good playing rhythym guitar as he is lead.

I have many faves among Rock, Blues, and Classic music performers. But perhaps my all time favorite is Puerto Rican folklorist Yomo Toro:

I'm not that into electric guitar, but Santana and George Harrison are favorites.

I also like The Edge, Jimmy Page and Pete Townsend.
