Why are distant skylines at the same angle upwards if the Earth is curved ?

Why aren't objects at a far distance at an angle if the Earth is curved ? Objects in the distance appear to be at different levels of base height, but they all look like they're facing "up" at the same degree I am at.

If the Earth is curved, shouldn't a tall building I see from 20 miles away be at an angle away from, looking like it's leaning ?

Look at this skyline of Chicago - it's beautiful but the buildings look upright facing straight up. If the Earth is curved (which I believe it is), why isn't the skyline at an angle facing away from us since it's on another part of the curve ?

    Is this a "Political Opinion"?

The "leaning you would be looking for is away from you, not to the left or right. When lookjngvat an object on a sphere it will share what you percieve as the verticle plane relative to the center of the sphere.

Then how come we don't see it ? The buildings at a far distance seem to be pointing up in the same angle/degree that I'm standing. How is this possible if's it is on a different on the curve. We seem to see a building not pointing up at a different angle, but in the same as the one we're standing on.

from space you would, need larger distances for it to be noticeable enough for the naked eye

Do you have any idea how far up above the Earth you have to be before you can even tell the Earth is curved? IIRC while reading about U.S. spy planes its something like 85,000 to 100,000 feet.

Because you are a puny human with limitations that was not designed to need laser vision at that distance.

No you dont understand. Palin was right. If you stand on Alaska you should be able to see clear all the way to Russia. This proves it.

Negative. I know the Earth is a sphere, I'm just asking for an explanation to the angle discrepancy.

Seeing that the radius of the earth is 3965 miles, perhaps if you had a very tall structure with a base of 100 miles, you might get 1 degree of tilt.

Unwittingly, Tina Fey was correct, Russia is visble front some Alaskan islands which proves the point even a wackaboodle leftie can get something right on rare occasions.

The circumference of the earth is about 25,000 miles and the angle around the earth is 360 degrees. You say you are twenty miles from the building. That means the building is leaning away from you at an angle of 20/25,000 X 360 degrees or or just over one quarter of one degree. You would not be able to discern that with your naked eye, especially looking head on. The same principle would apply if you were trying to see how the two objects an equal distance from you were leaning away from each other. If they were twenty miles apart, but an equal distance from you, they would lean away from each other at just over one quarter of one degree.

I am not one hundred percent sure that was what you were asking, but I thought I would take a whack at it.

To better understand how small that difference is, look at it this way. If you were looking at a building one thousand feet tall, twenty miles away, the bottom of the building would be less than ten inches closer to you than the top of the building.

Not going to check the math, but the basic idea here is correct. That would have to be a very tall building with a very wide base for you to be able to detect lean with you eyes.

Because the leaning you would be looking for is away from you, not to the left or right.

Imagine a skyscraper built at a maximum 45 degree angle away from plumb. If your line of sight is in the same plane as that in which the building is 45 degrees out of plumb, you see no lean at all.

No. Palin said you can see Russia from land in Alaska. She was correct although she used it as some sort of foreign policy credential.
Tina Fey made the joke about seeing Russia from her house.

You have repeated this 3 times now to 3 different posters. At what point is it going to hit you that you are wrong?

You are looking head on. The (tiny amount of) lean is 'away' from you. Truncation of form into the triangular would only happen at a fairly extreme lean, either way.

This is so simple I fear I've missed something crucial.

They claimed that he was a flat earther. They even quoted his post which he specifically stated that he believed the earth was curved in the post they quoted. He was simply asking why it wasn't noticable. I only responded to 2, two, dos posters so it appears you ****ers can't even count either.

Here it is because I don't think you are smart enough to be able to find it yourself....his words.

"If the Earth is curved (which I believe it is)"
